This project which had an overdll cost in exces5 of £140,000, replaced an old outdated software system. and enabled the provisioR of enhanced databa$¢s and a new finance system. Publ1¢ Ilenefit The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland has published guidance to charity trustees in the health sKtor and provided guidance on the principles of publi¢ benefit to the advancement of health and the 5avRng of lives. The trustees have considered the relevant guidanee 2nd are satisfied thatallthe charity's ¢haritable activities fall within its objectives and iesult in consrd¢rable benefit tothepublic, a5 demonstrated in thc5ection of this report dealin8withachiev¢m¢nts and peiformance. Particularattention is drawn to the followiTh8 services provided free of cost ¢0 the etknj user. St John Ambulance supported on average annually 570 Cadets (10-18years) and 199 badgers (7-10 years) providing varied d¢v¢lopment programme5 in diverse subjects ranging from first aid and care competenci¢5 tg prin¢ipl¢s of radio ¢ommuni¢ations to good citizenship. This represented a considerable reduction from previous year5. mainly due to th¢ ¢an¢¢llation of all f￿e- lfvface activity itl March 2020, as a result of Covid -19, and th¢ switch to 'online' activity. Patient transfers Prior to 2019 St Jokn Ambulance (Nl) had a service ogr¢¢ment in place with NIAS to provide pati¢nt tran5POrt services by our volunteer crews at times when the statutory services are unable to respond, and we also responded to short term demands providing the ambulance servi¢e3 with a degrtt of flexibility to reactto winter pr¢ssures and otherd¢tnand fa¢tor5. Thi5 contract was lost in March 2017, but re-established partially in Nov¢mber 2018 by means of a Single Tender Action, and restored fully with etTe¢t frotn l Nov¢tnb¢r 2019. when we succ¢ssfiJlly won back not just the lost contract, but 81112 patien¢transf¢r ¢ontro¢t$ forNE. ￿lhi]st ¢her¢ is no charge to the recipient of our services out ftes to the trusts are intended to cover the directand indirect costs that are it)curred, includEng a contribution to central overheads.
