## **Governing Document** : 

The District’s governing documents are those of the Scout Association. 

They consist of a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association. 

## **Constitution:** 

The District Is a true established under its rules which are common to all Scouts. 

## **Trustee selection Methods:** 

The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association. 

## **Risk and Internal Control:** 

The Group Trustees ensures that all activities are undertaken in accordance with the Scout Association Policy, Organisation and Rules. 

All leaders are members of the Scout Association and as such have a valid Access NI check and are covered by the Scout Association national accident insurance policy. 

Risk assessments are undertaken for all activities. 

## **Objectives:** 

The objectives of the group are as a unit of the Scout Association. 

The Aim of the Scout Association is to promote the development of the young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. 

The method of achieving the Aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by leadership. 

Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together on the values of Scouting and 

- Enjoy what they are doing and have fun 

- Take part in activities indoors and outdoors 

- Learn by doing 

- Share in spiritual reflection 

- Take responsibility and make choices 

- Undertake new and challenging activities 

- Make and live by their promise 

The Group meets the Charity Commission’s public benefits criteria under both the advancement of education and the advancement of citizen or community development headings. 

## **AGM REPORT** 

Thanks to all group members for working so hard as a group, we have achieved many award, attended many events and taken part in competitions. This could not happen without the great work of all the leaders and leadership teams. The parents help has been invaluable. 



## **AWARDS:** 

All sections have achieved many activity badges, staged badges and challenge badges. 

111  badges and 3 chief scout acorn award for squirrels, beavers achieved the top award of Chief Scout Bronze Award and 80 badges in total, a number of  Cubs achieved the Silver Chief scout Award and 251 badges in total, 4 scouts achieved their Gold Chief Scout Award and 203 in total badges, the explorers achieved 73 badges in total and special mention to 1 Bronze Dofe, 4 Silver Dofe and 7 Platinium and 3 diamond awards. 

## **TRAINING:** 

The Awards mention above are as a result of steady input from leaders of all sections.  Leaders too have attended many training sessions to help make sure the group can help the children achieve and give the group challenges to again these top awards. From Woodbadge training and Nights Away Training 

## **PROGRAMME:** 

Each meeting of our Scouts presents exciting and interesting programmes based on the challenges, activity and staged badges to help out young people achieve the top awards. 

Topics which have been covered have international events, creative challenge, skills for life challenges and Emergency Aid. 

These opportunities are grasped by our leaders to help mould the young people into useful, caring and independent citizens. 

## **EVENTS:** 

**The Group attended events hosted by the district and Ni Scouts – District Beaver Sleepover, Tenpin Bowling, Cubs Airsoft, Scouts District Dodgeball.** 

## **Rememberance Sunday Parade @Whitehead, St Georges Day Parade @ Greenisland and District Carol Service @ 4th Carrickfergus** 

All Sections have taken part in a hike in the local woods. 

## **NUMBERS:** 

At present there is 78 young people within the sections of the group. 

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW:** 

The group is funded by the fees from each of the youth members. Any extra events are supported directly by the parents of members or fundraising events.
