The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by
Charities: Statement of Recornmended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
(FRS102) (effective l January 2015) - (Charities SORP (FRS 102) ) the Financial Reporting
Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
Tlie charity is governed by the trustees who ensure that the charity continues to fulfil its main aims
and obj ectives and is run in accordance with company law.
Objectives and Activities
Objective
The main objective of the charity is to improve life for and to proinote the welfare of, older people
in the North West.
ActAvities
In order to achieve its obj ective the charity runs a number of activities throughout the year. These
activities include:_

Tea dances
Line dancing
Sequence dancing
Computer classes
Culture tours
Bingo
Tai-chi
Arts and crafts
Bowling and curling
Social dancing

Achievements and Performance
Tlie charity is unique in that it is the onty single issue voluntary organisation in the area which is
solely focused on supporting older people. It is well established and well known in the area for its
work in addressing the needs, anxieti&s, fears, concerns and aspirations of older people from all
sections of the corninunity.
Financial Review
Tlie coinpany's results for the year show an increase in incoine and an increase in expenditure.
This has resulted in net ingoings for the year of £21,921 (2023 - Net ingoings £23,166).
At the year end the company had reserves of £765,769 of which £460,635 relates to restricted fvnds
aiid £3 05,134 relates to unrestricted funds. £120,000 of the unrestricted fund is designated for
building repairs.
Plans for Future Periods
The cliarAty aiins to continue to service the needs of older people in the community. It aims to
continue to offer a wide range of services and activities and to meet its objectives of improving the
life and promoting tlie welfare of older people in tlie North West. The Trustees will be diligent and
forward thinking when it comes to ensuring that funds are availabIe to continue to meet these
objectives and to take advantage of funding opportunities that becorne available.

Independent Examinergs Report to the Directors of Older People North West on the
unaudlted finanetal statsments
I am reporting on the financial statements of the company for the year ended 31 March 2024 which
are set out on pages 7- 17.
This report is made solely to the company's directors, as a body, in accordance with section
65(3)(a) of the Charities Act Northern Ircland 2008 and regulations made under section 66 of that
Act. My work lias been undertaken so that I might state to the company's directors those matters I
n required to state to them in an Independent Examinees Report and for no other purpose. To the
fjjllest extent pennitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the
coinpany and the company's directors as a body, for my work or for this report.
Respective Responsibilities of Directors and Examiner
As the directors (who are also the trustees of Older People North West for the purposes of company
law) you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requiremeiits of
the Companies Act 2006. Having satisfied myself that the coinpany is not subject to an audit under
company law and is cligiblc for independent eX￿nination, it is my responsibility to:
exainine the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act.
follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Coinmission for
Northern Ireland under section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act; and
- state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent Examiner's Statement
I have examined your charity accounts as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and rny
examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity
Cominission for Northern Ireland undcr section 65(9)(b) of the Charities Act. The examination
included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts
presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in
the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters.
My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention giving me cause to
believe:
(l.)That accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 3 86 of the Companies Act
2006;
(2.)That the accounts do not accord with those accounting records.
(3.) That the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the
Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Charities Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with
the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland;
(4.) That there is fillther inforn]ation needed for a proper understanding of the accounts to be
reached.

Significant accounting policies
The following accounting policies have been applied consistently in dealing with
iteins which are considered material in relation to the financial statements:_
General information 2nd basis of preparation
Older People North West is a company limited by guarantee and not having a share
capital and is Inco￿orated in Northern Ireland. The address of the registered office
is given in the cornpany information on page l of these financial statements. The
nature of the company's operations and principal activities consists of promoting the
welfare and the relief of poverty, sickness and disablement among older people
(aged 60 or more) living within the De￿ City area ("the area of benefit ).
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and
Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recoinmended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102) (effective l JanuaTy 2015) -
(Charities SORP (FRS 102)) the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Companies Act 2006.
It meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. The finaiicial
stateinents have been prepared on a going concern basis under the historical cost
convention, Inodified to include certain iteins at fair value. The financial statcments
are prepared in sterling which is the functional currency of the company.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost, less accuinulated depreciation and
accumulated impainnent losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write
off the cost less residual value of each asset over its expected use￿1 life, as follows:

Where there is objective evidence that the recoverable amount of an asset is less
than its catrying value, the ca￿]ng amount of the asset is reduced to its recoverable

previously revalued tangible fixed assets, which are recogrAised in other
comprehensive income to the extent of any previously reco￿lS¢d revaluation
surplus in respect of that asset.

Income
Grant Income
Grants are credited to the statement of financial activities in the period in which they
received or are receivable. Grants which have conditions which have not been
filled are treated as liabilities and only recognised as incoine when the conditions
are achieved.
Other Income
All other income is recognised once the company has entitlement to the incoine, it is
probablc that the income will be received, and the amount of iiicoine receivable can
be ineasured reliably.
Fund Accounting
Unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Directors in
ftlrtherance of the genera] objectives of the company and which have not been
designated for other purposes. Designated funds are unrestricted funds of the charity
which the trustees have decided at their discretion to set aside for a specific pu￿OSe.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific
restrictions imposed by donors or which have been raised by the company for
particular purposes. The costs of raising and administering such funds are charged
against the specific ￿nd. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the
notes to the financial statements.
Employee BenefIts
When employees have rendered service to the coinpany, short-tenn employee
benefits to which the employees are entitled are recognised at the undiscounted
amount expected to be paid in exchange for that service.
Debtors and creditors receivablelpayable within one year
Debtors and creditors with no stated interest rate and which are receivable or
payable within one year are recorded at the transaction price. Any losses arising
from impainnent are reCO￿lSed in the statement of financial activities in
administrative expenses.

Judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty
No judgernents have been made in the process of applying the above accounting
policies. The following is the company's key source of estimation uncertainty:
Depreciation and tangible fixed assets
The company establishes a reliable estiinate of the expected useful life and residual
value of tangible fixed assets. The estimate of expected usefiil life and residual value
of an asset is based upon a variety of factors such as the age wben acquired, the
expected frequency of use and the repair policy of the company.
