## Activities

**Purposes:** The Group is established to promote the benefit of the people resident in the Scarva area by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, promote the arts and protect and preserve the health of the said people.  In particular the Group will: - Promote awareness of the cultural heritage (including history, language, music, literature and folklore) of people of the Ulster-Scots community in the Scarva area; - Provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for education, recreation and other leisure time activity with the object of improving the conditions of life of the people of Ulster-Scots community who are in need of such facilities as a result of their youth, age, poverty, social or economic circumstances; - Enable the people of the Ulster-Scots community to grow in understanding and confidence in their own cultural heritage that they may be in a position to share on an equitable basis with other traditions; - Provide encouragement and practical support services to existing and new organisations whose aims are compatible with the group so as to increase their efficiency and effectiveness.
