A summary of the charity:
The Charitable Purposes of the Charity are to provide a local educational resource, promote and preserve the culture and heritage of local people, promote cultural confidence and civic pride, bolster the morale of the community and harness the abilities of local people; to facilitate the examination, exploration and appreciation of all the people of the Ulster-Scots language, history, music, heritage, tradition and culture in an open and positive manner to encourage mutual understanding.
To further these purposes for the public benefit, we carried out the following activities:
Ulster-Scots music lessons with a good number of folk attending weekly. Securing funding of £10,000 to help install a lift in the building we use and hold our classes.
Organised and hosted a number of local history talks that were very well attended. Organised and hosted a Christmas party for the whole community.
The voluntary maintenance scheme where we sponsored and managed the bi-weekly cutting of grass verges from Spring through to Autumn to enhance the look of our village and prevent accidents on the roads by hazardous long grass blocking views for drivers.
The maintenance of the village Christmas Tree which we decorated, dressed and supplied the lights for as well as getting the Trustees to of the local Orange Hall to supply the electricity for the lights.
The Trustees have read the Commissions Public Benefit requirement statutory guidance.
A review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the year 2024. In the Financial Year 2023 – 2024, The Charity had an income of £18,532.55 and an expenditure of £17,523.52.
The charity does not have a reserves policy and has no liabilities
