Annual Report April 2022- March2023
This year we were once again successful in getting three grants.
£680 from The Macan Trust for the blind. This money was spent
on transport. As the cost of fuel kept rising we had an extra spend
from our club funds for transport.
£500 from The Woodlawn Trust. This money was spent on a
theatre night, transport and stationery.
£840 from Mid Ulster Council. This money was spent on
Insurance, hall hire, a day out , auditing and stationery.
This year we were given three most generous donations for our
club.
£113 from Blackwatercommunity Barge.
£120 from Tesco, Dungannon.
£80 from Mr. Jackie Reid, Castlecaulfield.
£92.94 was raised from our loose change tin. This included a
further £10 from the above Mr. Reid.
£543.50 was raised at a car boot sale at Granville. This was our
annual fund raiser and was most successful.
21 st April. We met in Gardiner hall, Dungannon where we held
our AGM. The election of committee was facilitated by Sadie
Taylor.
4th. May. Day trip and lunch at Colmans, Templepatrick.
17th May. Barge trip on river Blackwater.
9th. June. Day trip to Portrush/Portstewart stopping off at
Cookstown for tea on the way home.
28th July. Annual picnic in Dungannon park, where we were
joined by family and friends.
22nd-26th August. 4night break to Newcastle
15th September. We met in our new venue in Ballysaggart
Business Park, Dungannon for tea, games and some boccia.
20th October. Sharon from Tesco, Dungannon came to give a talk
and to find out how staff could help when blind or partially sighted
came to the store.

5th November. Night out at Market Pla￿ Theatre in Armagh to
hear Johnny Cash tribute band.
17th November. Our guest speaker was Andrea Begley who is an
ambassador for the RNIB After giving a short talk and answering
some of our questions she sang two songs for us.
7th December. Christmas meal at Cohannon, Tamnamore.
January 2023. No meeting.
16th February We held an information day. June shared useful
telephone numbers, addresses and gave out some equipment.
Ray Maxwell and Louise Mallon from The Southern Trust,
sensory team asked to come to our meeting to give a talk on how
they hoped to get The Vision Forum up and running again after
covid. .There was a good discussion and we are waiting to hear
the outcome when they have spoken with other groups.
16th March. Our guest speaker was Dr. Steven Day from The
Macan Trust for the blind. He gave a most interesting talk on how
the charity was started over 200years ago. He then joined in a
lively game of boccia.
Our grateful thanks once again go to Loraine at COSTA for all her
help, answering any queries we may have and for helping to
submit our paperwork to the charity commission well within time.
Attendance this year has been fairly good although a few
members have had health issues. We had three new members
join this year. Sadly one member passed away and our thoughts
are with her family.
