CHAIRPERSONS REPORT:
Joan welcomed everyone to the first AGM of SWEDES, she said she was pleased to see such a
good turnout and welcomed some new fa￿S and hoped they would continue to attend our group
meetings during the coming year.
The group has had a very successful year. One of our highlights being the BBQ evening at
Jennifer Magee's home in August. Despite the rain we played games and ate a very tasty BBQ.
We had a very successful 9 months in the Social Hub in the Clinton Centre where we had access
to computers and printers. The Dropin was great as everyone met together, dank coffee and
were able to look up information on the intemet. It was a great place to practice sign language
and learn new signs both from our signing members and from the Hands That Talk DVD. We
thank the Social Enterprise club for alSowing us to use the ￿ntre each Monday aftemoon.
We had games nights, speakers including information on bus travel and infomation from Citizens
Advice. In December we had our very enjoyable Christmas Dinner and in June we had a trip up to
Enniskillen Townhall where we were shown around by Frankie Roofe who retired from his job as
caretaker recently. He is a local historian and gave lots of interesting information about Enniskillen
in the past. Some of our members V￿re able to help sign the information to our deaf
members. We were even all0v￿d to sit in the Fermanagh District Councils Chamber.
Joan thanked the committee especially Jennrfer and Catriona for all their hard work during the
year to enable the group to function successfully. She wished the group continuing success in the
coming year, she then declared all posts vacant and handed over to Sylvie to chair the election of
officers.
