St Andrews Community Action Group Limited Company Number NI611879 Charity Number NIC103735 Trustees’ annual report for the year ended 31 March 2018
Objectives and activities
The purposes of the charity are promotion and advancement of community development, the promotion of urban regeneration, the promotion of the Christian faith, the relief of poverty, sickness and the aged and the promotion of the benefit of the inhabitants of the Glencairn area and its environs of the Greater Shankill area of Belfast.
We seek to achieve the purposes by raising funds to provide services and amenities to the public, of benefit to both the community and The Church.
In setting the purposes and in carrying out activities the trustees confirm that they have regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.
Achievements and performance
The charity currently provides the following “in demand” services;
-
Parent and toddler clubs which empower local people(predominately women, largely single parents) to develop self confidence and to meet socially and to enhance socialisation of the children.
-
Educational activities for children which enhance their learning and creative skills such as after school clubs, craft clubs and seasonal events.
-
Outdoor activity days in the summer holidays.
The trustees are satisfied that the services help meet a demand in the community and with greater resources the charity could reach a greater number of people and assist in the alleviation of the level of deprivation in the greater area.
Financial review
The trustees are satisfied with the financial position at the year end. The Charity needs to continually seek out new sources of grant income. Funds are generally raised for specific projects and the reserves are held to ensure that the projects are delivered as agreed with the terms of the grants received.
Funding is typically obtained for period of less that three years. Hence the ability of the charity to continue as a going concern is dependant on the ability of the trustees to seek out and secure new sources of grant income.
Structure, governance and management
The charity is constituted as a limited company and is governed by the terms of its memorandum of association and article of association. The trustees are directors of the limited company and all the directors of the company are trustees. The name of the directors/trustees are set out below.
