## **Status** 

The band finished the year in a healthy state of membership with circa 20 members on the books. 

## **Main activities** 

Annual parade – We held our own parade in Dromore on the 26th May. This was a successful event with large numbers of spectators and 20 bands in attendance. We attended 15 Parades in 2023 including large annual celebrations the Twelfth, Last (Black) Saturday in August. We also attended 4 indoor concerts. 

## _Community Benefit_ 

The band also continued to offer tuition for the flute and drum for the local community, and provide a platform for local people participate in Ulster-Scots and Ulster Protestant musical traditions and culture. In doing so the band continues to provide a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment to learn a musical instrument and partake in a local cultural tradition. Other benefits to members and participants include improved selfesteem and confidence, friendship, teamwork and pride in achievement. Through this the band continues to provide an invaluable service at no cost to the local community in a rural area. In doing so the band provides a focal point for civic pride, social cohesion and family involvement. 

## _Finance_ 

There are ongoing costs that enable the band to function, that need to be meet annually. These day to day running costs have been covered during the year. Longer term costs such as instrument repairs and uniforms for new members, new uniforms for the band as a whole and instruments when these come to the end of their useful life is being saved for via the band’s reserve account to be drawn on when these arise. 

## **Conclusion** 



It was a successful year for the band with the band attending many events around Northern Ireland. This represents steady recovery following the significant challenges for the local community following the Covid-19 pandemic and various lockdowns in the previous two years.  Membership remains stable. Morale is buoyant with members looking forward to continuing - through its participation in events and offer of musical tuition among other activities - to play a positive role in the life of the local community in its now 187[th] year.
