Support from Fundors An area of considerable concam throughout the year was the negative Impact of the pandemiG on the finances of the organisatlon. As an Independent tharity, operatlng vAth very limited statutory support. the key tssue was the potentlally damaging Impact on the fundraislng strategy for 202212023. The Issue was reflected In BIM (Nl)'s revlsed rlsk register, and in the efforts of the Board, CEO and Staff Team to focus on furKlraising. These efforts, comblned with the proactive response of fvnding bodies such as the National Lottery Community Fund. Children In Need and statutory support ensured that Brain Injury Matters remained financially wable and in a positive financial p05itlon moving Into the coming year 202312024. BIM (Nl) would like to aCknO￿8dg8 the support and generosity of funders induding families and frlends who have assisted us in sustsining setvice delivery during this period. Support has been recelved from a Tange of Trusts and voluntary bodies that are acknowledged on the BIM 15

BRAIN INJURY MArrERS (NI) Report of the Trustees Year Ended 31 March 2023 {Nl) websits . The proactive and flgxible approach taken by a wide range of funders was critical to our ability to respond to the needs of our beneficlaries and ensure the organlsation's financial viabilrty given the irnpact upon funding and fundraising. The Board was pleased to have received support from the NCLF Dormant Accounts Fund. as this will support the ongoing development of the organisation as It moves into a period of recovery and growth. In practical terms. Dormant Accounts funding has allowed us to recruit iwo new members to the stsff Team.. a Marketing Officer and a Research and Policy Officer. Their work has grtsa￿Y enhaneed the soclal media raach and policy engagement of the organisation. Other very signlficant nding developments included gaining 5UPPOrt from the Henry Smlth Charity to support or work wlth adults and a threfryear invèstment from the NCLF to support our wgtl( with young people, Looking Forward 202312024 The ongoing impact of Covid-19 in th6 medium temi on Brian Injury Matters, as with many voluntsry organisations, will be seen in funding pressures as the Government seeks to rewup the costs arKI ensure ststutory 8ep41ces can be resourced as a prS0rity. These flnanoal p￿ssureS wlll be exacert>ated by tha ongoing polits'cal instsbility and the absence of a fijnctioning devolved Assembly. Further cuts to health, education and community budgets combined with the loss of European funding will have a signtficant detrfmental impact on those organi8ations such as ourselves providing 88Nices In tha communbty. Consequently, we will need to proactively pursue fundlng opportunities offering corpordte sector and community funding opportunitSes. The ongolng Impact of Co￿d-19 also highlighted the needs of family members stru9gling to navigats the Impact of A81. This informed the development of our advocacy work with chlldren and actsd as an.Impotus to undertake a Study looking at the naeds ol carers. This, In tum. led to the launch of our'carers Matter study in Saptamber 2022. We are hopeful that this work wlll alknv us to expand our advocacy work and accordingly see this as an important element ot our service delivery in 2024r2025. Part of our advocacy work will also b8 refleGted in a greater ernphasis on policy davelopment and promotion through conferences and workshops. Presenting and sharlng our models of practice provides an opportunlty to raise awareness of BIM and more importanuy to highllght the needs and priori￿e8 of those living with ABI. This will alsa complement our greater involvement in a range of regional fora working in the field of brain injury and neurology. Responding to emerging needs has also encouraged us to develop and enhance our existing premises. Our success in gaining support frorn a range of sponsors allowed us to redesign our premlses, cr8ating a larger, inclusive, and aC￿sSible space for our Adult Service participants. Thi5 ￿lmagined Studio Space will open in May 2024 and will allow us to welcome a greater number of participants. This increase In numbers wlll a150 contribute to greater financial stsbility. While we will continue to face many challenges we are confident that working closely our participants and clients. families and car8r5 will ensure that we continue to deliver on our core purpose, whilst develcping and adapting our services to meet evolving needs. Financial Revlgw Income totalled £483,758 which was lower than the previous year. The vast proportion of Income comes from a numbar ol funders (detailed in Note 3 to the accounts) to which we are grateful for their support and encouragement of the charity.
