The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the chai-ity for the year ended 31 March 2023.
The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended
Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accoi'dance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and RepublÈc of Ireland (FRS 102) (eflective l January 2019J.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and activities
The objects of the association are to promote arts practice and arts production in the area of benefit without
distinctioii of age, sex, race, political, religious, or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary
organisations, and inhabitants in a common effort to advance public education by the encouragement of the Ai'ts
forthe benefit of the communityand to assist emerging artists to set themselves up in business by the provision of
studio space.

Achievements
Studio Provision:
Ai'ray Studios main priority in 2022/23 was to continue to provide affordable and professional facilities to
produce new. challenging, and innovative work by emerging individual arlksts and serve as a peer support
network and platform for inembei's through collaboration with the overall arts community.
Ai'ray studios continued promotingand improving the production of ait by:
pi'oviding excellent woi-king conditions for artists that is a site for pi'oduction of work and
networking.
creating oppoi'tunities for artists to develop and share their professÈonal pi'actice with surrounding cultural
community.
the commitment to equipping members with the skills, creative, technical. and business acumen to function
successfully as ai'tists locally and internationally.
developing programming activities (including aitist talks, ci'its. symposia) online and in person, which enable
Ai'ray to collaborate and work with both local and international institutions.
Otliei. actlvities related with studio provision:
- The rent and maintenance of the existing 48 King Street preinises with all core anienities.
Day io day administration and funder liaison cari'ied out by member Alessia Cai'giielli. The Array website was
hosted and maintained by Laura O'connoi.. The site was updated by n)embei's aiid was developed in accordance
with members needs throughout the year, e.g. allowing video, Instagi'am, and Twitter content to be added,
Member Clodagh Lavelle curates the PR.
Amplify our work as individual artists and as a collective in Belfast and beyond.
Array Studios has suppoi'ted 8 studio members during financial year 2022/23.. Sighle Bhreathnach-cashell,
Emma Campbell, Alessia Cai'gnelli, Clodagh Lavelle, Laura O'connor and Thomas Wells. Grace Mcmui'ray and Jane
Butler are associate members.
The variety aiid quality of work produced by studio members reflects the great diver.slty of art av211able Sn
Belfast and Noi'thei'n Ireland, In 2021, despite covid-19 resli'iction. Array developed the lai'gest-scale pi'oject to
date by the collective.. a new body of woi'k for the site.specific installation in the Hei'bert Coventi'y as part of tlie
nomination Foi. the woi'ld-renowned, Turner Pri2e 2021.

Progi'amming: past projects and other activities
Ai-ray Collective are a group of individual artists rooted in Belfast, who join together to ci'eate collaborative
actions in response to the socio-political issues alfecting Northern Ireland. Array's studios and project space in
the city eentre acts as a base for the collectlve, howevei. tlie participating artists are not limited to studio holders.
Array Collective members are Thomas Wells. Alessia Cargnelli. Emma Campbell, Clodagh Lavelle, Sighle
Bhi'eathnach-cashell and Laura O'connor (all Array Studio inembers) as well as Sinead Blireathnach-cashell, lane
Butler (Flax), Gracie Mcmurrary (QSS), Mitch Conlon (PS2) and Steplien Millar (Creative Excliange).
Oli December 1st (2021), Array Collective won the Turner Prize 20211 The award was announced at a ceremony
in Coventry Cathedral. more info here. Array Collective were nominated in May 2021 by the jury.. Aai"on Cezar,
Director, Delfina Foundation; Kim McAleese. Pi'ograinme Director, Grand Union; Russell Tovey, Actor,. and Zoe
Whitleyi Director, Chisenhale Gallery. The july was chaii'ed by Alex Farquhai'son, Director, Tate Britain, For the
first time, the shortlist consisted entirely of artist collectives, who all dealt with social issues througli their
practice. The five nomlnees, along with Array Collective, were: Cooking Section, Gentile Radhcal, B.O.S.S. and
Project Artworks.

In Suminei. 2022 Ai'ray toured the Turner Prize winniiig installation, The Druithaib's Ball to the Nun's Island
theatre in Galway, as well as presenting a collateral exhibltion in the Galway Arts Centre.

On the 25th of Feb 23, The Druithaib's Ball was showcased in an eight-moiiths long solo exhibition in the Ulster
Museum, who acquii'ed tlie woi'k in eai'ly 2022. This ran in conjunction with a inajoi. Eroup exhibition in the
Hei'bert Gallery in Coventry, Divided Selves, curated by Hammad Nasar MBE.

the charity's operating activities.
