## **Review of activities and achievements during 2022**

During 2023 the charity continued to thrive through the generosity of the local community.

Donations and gift Aid received in 2023 totalled £69,318.02.

These donations came from a variety of sources including family and local organisation’s fund raising events as well as, individual contributions in lieu of wedding favours, anniversary and birthday presents and funeral flowers.

Fundraising events during 2023 included charity walks, runs and cycles. Money raised from events such as tractor runs, vintage rally and coffee mornings. Consequently the charity gratefully received substantial financial support during 2023.

At every opportunity the Trustees ensured there was committee representation from the charity at these events. The charity continued to acknowledge receipt and appreciation for the donations through the charities’ Facebook page, subject to the benefactor’s wishes.

In 2023 the fund provided financial support to beneficiaries totalling grants of £66,500.00.

The purpose of this financial support is to assist cancer patients and their families with additional costs associated with treatment i.e. travel, increased home heating and potentially reduced household income.

The Termonmaguirc Cancer Patients Comfort Fund Facebook page remains an invaluable source of communication, providing another means for potential patients to contact the charity. It has also been used to share information promoting other cancer related services and highlighting and celebrating fundraising achievements.

## **Our Finances**

The Financial statement shows an incoming resource £74,155.60. The principal source of income is donations and gift aid. The remainder accrues from bank interest and investment income. At the end of year the fund’s total was £444,728.73.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

The charity Trustees are responsible for the overall management and control of Termonmaguirc Cancer Patients Comfort Fund and meet monthly excluding July and August. During the summer months Trustees are available to make decisions on Trust matters and provide support as required.

All Trustees give of their time freely and no remuneration or expenses are paid. If a Trustee or member of the Trustee’s family are diagnosed they are eligible to receive support in the same way as any other eligible patient.

## **Sustainability of current fund**

The history of the charity suggests that financial stability is secure and this is particularly evident by the substantial incomings outlined. The charity Trustees are mindful of the current cost of living crisis and potential impact on fund raising in the near future. The financial surety of the charity is in an encouraging position given the generosity of the local community .This will allow continued support of cancer patients which will be critical particularly in the midst of a cost of living crisis.

## **Statement of compliance**

The Trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure the activities associated with the charity have helped achieve the charities purposes and provided a benefit to the beneficiaries.
