Annual Report 2022-23 Kairos Trust.
At a meeting of Trustees on 6 April 2022, letters of resignation from Margaret Wilson and Irvine Lavery were received and accepted with regret. Margaret and Irvine have given over 30 years’ service to the Kairos Trust in many capacities but especially as active and experienced trustees.
The Trustees added Valerie Little and Tim Houston as Trustees to fill the vacant places on the Trustee Board. Both have had years of work with the trust and a passion for its objectives.
The Trustees held an evening to thank the outgoing and welcome the incoming Trustees on 14 April to coincide with the Conversations below.
The Trustees in conjunction with Transformations Ireland invited Gordon and Rachel Hickson to lead four conversations with Church leaders from all denomination over the weekend 13-16 May 2022. All of these were well attended and provoked stimulating discussion on the way forward for churches in a post-Covid world.
The costs of the weekend were shared equally between Transformations and the Trust.
Further invitations were received for various events throughout the year in Greyabbey, Portadown and Ballina, Co Mayo with the Connaught leaders.
Belfast Bible College again requested that we deliver a course as part of their Transformations programme. This happened from 6 November to 13 December weekly. Over 80 participated throughout.
A further one day Refresher Course was hosted in Carnmoney in February with an attendance of 150.
Once again, we contributed to the teaching in the International Theological Leadership College in Loule, Portugal in late February.
This year we received an invitation to provide a team to be independent listeners for a conference of all those working for European Cristian Mission to be held in Croatia. This conference brought together 400+ of
those working for the Mission from all across Europe and in particular from Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Hungary and Albania as well as western Europe. It was an immense privilege for the team of 10 to be available throughout the 7 days of the conference to provide a sounding board for the many leaders who had struggled through Covid in often isolated situations and to provide training through seminars to the participants.
It has been a busy year and the Trustees are now taking stock and planning to secure the future of the training we provide.
We continue to be grateful for the opportunities open to the Trust – it is a matter of regret that the wider international work has not restarted since Covid.
