TRUSTEE ANNUAL REPORT FOR YEAR ENDING 23/24

The Trustees present their Annual Report under the charities SORP in accordance with financial reporting standard and the financial statement for the year ending 31/03/23 also prepared in accordance with the aforementioned Statement of Recommended Practice.

The Muintirevlin Historical Society was established to enhance education and in particular to promote the study of and encourage public interest in the history, archaeology and antiquities of the region. It promotes and encourages education and community development through an appreciation of the diversity of local history and culture.

Muintirevlin Historical Society was formed in 1979 and is based in a 200 year old fishers man thatch white washed cottage. It was restored to its original state by the society and is white washed and maintained yearly. This cottage is known as Coyle’s Cottage and is leased on a 10 year term.

The society meet on the 1[st] Monday of the month in Coyles Cottage.

The Historical Society set a programme of talks for the 23/24 year at the start of the year 2023. Talks were sponsored by M.U.D.C.

Annual trip to Armagh Museum and Bagenals Castle 07/09/23.

The history of traditional music by Claire Nicholl 07/07/23.

The Wisdom of Chinese Medicine by Lai Fong 24/11/23.

The charge into the talks and Traditional music nights still remains @£3.00 which includes tea and home baked bread. The number in attendance at these events are around 30-35people.

FULS annual insurance was paid in April

The annual clean-up of the cottage began in the spring with the white washing and painting, of the cottage, cost of materials £60.00.

Two sets of American visitors called at the cottage and both left a donation of £20.00. Although the cottage was open during the summer months there were very few visitors.

Even the annual Traditional night and light supper was not well attended approx. 40 people including musicians and admission was£6.00.Admission takings came to £205. Raffle £171 and expenses for light supper £150.00.

The annual history trip was to Armagh was a great success and everyone enjoyed the day out. Tea and scones were provided at a cost of £90.00 and the tour bus & guide cost £375.

The last Traditional night was held on 27/10/23 and the number of musicians and patrons in attendance were down. 30-35 attended

Total income for the year was £25936.87, expenditure £10755.00
