Trustees Annual Report for the year ending 5th April 2025.
The Trustees present their Annual Report of the charity for the year ending 5th April 2025.
Purpose.
The principal objective of Killicomaine Evangelical Church is to advance the Christian Faith in accordance with its Statement of Belief among people of all backgrounds.
Achievements and Performance.
The Trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on provision of public benefit and are confident that the Church has fully satisfied this requirement through its activities throughout the year from 6 April 2024 to 5 April 2025.
The Church continued to provide opportunities for people to meet to worship God and learn about the Christian Faith by conducting morning and evening services every Sunday with attendances of approximately 70 to 80 in the morning and 30 to 40 in the evening. A weekly Bible Study and Prayer meeting was also held on a Thursday evening from September through June, which is open to all. A Woman's Bible Study is held monthly which continues to be a source of teaching, support and fellowship for all in attendance. Sunday services continue to be available on Zoom, which is beneficial to those who are not able to attend in person.
Activities aimed at teaching young people about the Christian Faith continue to take place throughout the year. These include a Sunday School, a Bible Class (held on Zoom), also a Children's meeting and Youth groups which are held each Friday evening In the Killicomaine Jubilee Community Centre. The average overall attendance for all these activities is between 30 to 40. In July a Holiday Bible Club (HBC) was held for younger children with an average daily attendance of 29. Prior to the HBC a safeguarding refresher course was held for all leaders by the Safeguarding Officer.
The Mid-week Fellowship meets on a Wednesday afternoon. These meetings continue to be a great means of support and help to all who attend, providing worship, bible study and in particular fellowship, for those who for whatever reason find it difficult to attend, or attend regularly, on a Sunday or Thursday evening. The regular number in attendance is between 12 and 16.
There were two individuals, on profession of faith, baptised in May.
The development of the new website was completed and launched in June.
The Church has a full time Pastor, Daniel Gomes, who continues to develop the ministry and outreach of the Church.
The Church supports a missionary in Lima, Peru, also continues to help support two families, one working amongst international refugees in Germany and the other providing support services with a missionary society, Ethnos 360, in Florida USA. Support is given to other Churches engaged in advancing the Christian faith overseas, in Markayankottai, India and Batticaloa and Killinochi, Sri Lanka.
Pastoral support, including home visitation, is provided by the Church and, where necessary, counselling for members, those who regularly attend and any others who may request it.
The Church contributes to the life of the wider community through involvement with the Killicomaine Residents Group and in partnership with them supports the Annual Fun Day in July, for which the church premises are made available. This has become an established community festival which continues to be very well attended. A Carol Service was held during December in the Church Building. In collaboration with another local church, we are involved in the running of a Men's Club, which meets each Friday morning and provides social interaction for the men of the local community. The club continues to attract new members, attendance continues to be consistent and the activities and fellowship have been a great means of support and encouragement to all.
All of the Church's activities are published on the Killicomaine Evangelical Church website, www.killicomaine.org
