Objectives and aclivities
The principal activity of the association during the year und¢r review was that of providing and promoting tlie
facilities for hearing impaired people .particularly in Northem Ireland.
Charity Objeclives
Relieve the needs of hearing impaired people particularly in Nlorthcrn Jreland.
Primarily to provide a c¢ntre for deaf Foplc. run by deaf people. to ensure that they are underst()od aiid can
participate with each other with ease and in a non-discrimatory fashion.
To advance education thmugh sign language. educate people al)out signed languages" deaf awaraeness and
cultur¢5' promote sign language cultural activities (including the visual and p¢rfomiing arts,music and literary
activities) in all its fornis; educate the general public by promoting awarenes5 and organising research into ihe
history, forklore and cultural heritage of th¢ sign languages community: promote public events delivered
through or laken in sign language. train and develop the skills of people in the sign language field, fvnction as
a sigii language community organistion and as a language delevopmenl agency io assist sign language users
with issues concerning sign language rights and access to society in sign languages; promote sign language
Inedium educalion. encourage the groivth of early years education and beyond ihrough sign language.

Trustee's Responsibilities In Relation To Tbe Financial Statements
The trustees of Foyle Deaf A550ciation are responsible for preparing the trustee's Annual Report and the
financial statemenls in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United
Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
The trustees are r¢quired to prepare financial statements for each financial year, that give a true and fair view
of th¢ stat¢ of th¢ affairs of the charitable association and of ihe incoming r¢50urrxs and application of
resources, including ihe income and expenditure, of the charitsble association for that period. In preparing
these financial ￿ateMent& the truste¢s ar¢ required to:
select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently.
observe the methods and principles in th¢ Charities SORP 2019 (FRSI 02);
- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.
state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, 5ubje¢t to any material departures
disclosed and explained in the financial statements.
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless il is inappropriate to presume that the
charity will continue in business.
Tlie trustee's are responsible for maintaining proper accounling records whi¢h disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enables them to ensure that the financial
statements comply wilh the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.Th¢ trusiees are also responsible for
safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of
fraud and other irregularities.
In so far as the trustees are aiyare:
-there is no relevant inforniation of which the charitable associatkon's independent exaaminer is unaware, and
-the trustee's have taken all the steps that they ought to have taken to make themselves aware of any relevant
information and to estsblish that the independent examiner is aNvare of that inforniation.
A r¢solution will be proposed at the Annual General Meeting ihal McGroarty Mccafferty & Company Ltd be
re-appointed as accountants to the charity for the ensuing year.
