Trustee Report for Ballyculter and Kilclief Parish Churches
Charity ID number 103585
A vestry meeting for Ballyculter and Kilclief churches will be held on Sunday 14 April 2024 after the church service in Kilclief to confirm appointed positions for the coming year.A brief meeting was held in Ballyculter after the church service on Good Friday 29 March to confirm church and vestry members for the year and agreement for vestry meeting to be held on 14 April. The accounts were reconciled and discussed with the FWO secretaries for both churches and will be discussed at the meeting on Sunday.
Church services are usually held every week between the two churches and attendance by parishioners has much improved.
In December there was some damage to the roof of the Sextons house due to heavy rain throughout the past year and we are currently obtaining quotes for work required for the repairs to this. Some internal work is also required and having spoken to the tenent an increase to the rent has been agreed along with a donation towards the work as there has been no increase in rent for many years.
General maintenace work to the graveyard at Kilclief is carried out by church members , as has the work in Ballyculter. However it has been agreed to employ a company to carry out the work for the graveyard at Ballyculter as this has been too much for the church members to do themselves. This has been done on a voluntary basis and this has been much appreciated by everyone. However it is now another expense which will now be added to ths costs for the 2024 year.
Donations to local charitiest have been distributed to local charities as agreed with Canon Henry Hull prior to his retirement.
The financial postion of the church has deteriorated over the past year due to a fall in income and rising costs and outgoings. This will be duscussed at the vestry meeting to ensure a secure plan is in place to continue both churches viability to continue.
