MURLOUGH COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY 26th JUNE 2018 1. WELCOME Anthony Corrigan welcomed everyone to the meeting. 2. APOLOGIES Cllr. Laura Devlin 3. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING Minutes of last AGM were agreed & adopted 4. AMMENDMENT TO CONSTITUTION Anthony Corrigan explained MCA has been working throughout the Castlewellan and in particular Burren Meadow. It is important the group constitutions reflects this and asked for member to vote on an amendment. From ' . inhabitants of the Burrendale Estate within the Murlough ward" to ' .inhabitants of the Castlewellan Road within the Murlough ward" Proposed.. Anthony Corrigan Seconded.. Sr. Teresa Clancy 5. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT Anthony gave an overview of the work undertaken during the year this included committee meetings every three months unless there was a need for extra meetings. Joe Sloan from Burren Meadow now attends our meetings. Meetin s attended included., HOUSING EXECUTIVE Anthony is our representative, he attends meetings etc .and reports back on outcomes at our meetings SAFE & WELL Sr Teresa attends the meetings ARC We attend open days and Anthony was involved in the Biitain in Bloom project SERC We were represented at meetings discussing the possibility of availing of the College to facilitate meetings for those living in the Estates- -this is ongoing SUICIDE Prevention Task Group We participate in the annual awareness week INTERAGENCY MEETINGS,. We are represented at all meetings MYMYWe accepted an invitation to attend the Open Day PCSP.. We were represented at meetings in relation to the arson attacks on the Flats PSNI:VVe accepted an invitation to the opening of the new Police Station in Downpatrick ROAD SAFETYWe attended meetings on this issue whiGh are still on going OUTINGS" Senior Citizens enjoyed a day in the Ulster Folk and Trans Museum ort
A visit to St Geor es Market was enjoyed by all Young Families had a day at Funtasia they also enjoyed a day at the uarium in Portaferry Lions Club a large group joined the outing to Dungannon st. Valentines Dinnor All enjoyed the meal and entertainment in Golf Links House Representatives from PCSP were present and gave an informative presentation on how to keep safe in the home. We are grateful to them for sponsoring this event CDRCN. CHRISTMAS GATHERING Members of the CHESS CLUB joined with us at a very enjoyable celebration in Ballymote, we all came home with a personal Winler Warmer Pack and all kinds of help for the many problems of the ageing process.many more of the Gommittee will mark this event for the future. WATER COLOUR PAINTING COPPER CRAFT PAINTING ON STONE PAINTING ON GLASS COOK IT CHAIR AEROBICS All of the above were well attended and thoroughly enjoyed COMMUNICATION Members distributed a NEWSLETTER to all the homes re-assuring them of the support and security planned, to ensure the safety of people in their own home We are grateful to CDRCN for printing the Fliers OIL CLUB , This is going from strength to strength due to the hard work of Anthony 6. TREASURER'S REPORT Sr. Teresa gave a brief overview of income & expenditure whilst accounts were displayed on a power point, £1,000 was gifted to us from the Wee Charity Shop £500 from Safe & Well enswed that the popular Chair Aerobics could continue £300 from CDRCN enabled the Cook It class to be delivered. 7. ELECTION OF NEW COMMITTEE Vote conducted by Paula Nixon CDRCN. Existing members stepped down and all members offered to be re- elected. Members were proposed en bloc by Eileen and seconded by Anthony Corrigan. 8. ANY OTHER BUSINESS Sr. Teresa thanked residents, funders and agencies for their continued support and funding. To Paula for her help without which we could not function as a group and our thanks also to Cllr. Willie Clarke and Cllr. Laura Devlin for their support. 9. DATE OF NEXT MEETING To be confirmed
