THE PARISH OF ST JOHN'S TYRELLA ST TRUSTEES, ANNUAL REPORT FOR YEAR ENDING 31 DECEMBER 2024 The Trustees present the Annual Report and Statements of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Liabilities for St John's Tyrella for the year ended 31 December 2024. OBJEcfivE AND AcfiviTIES The principal function of St John's Tyrella is to support the advancement of the Christian religion by promoting, through the work of St John's Tyrella the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offering support for those needing help are fundamental to the practical delivery of the benefits of Christianity. A5 a result of activity in the pursuit of the advancement of the Christian religion, St John's Tyrella has custody of property and of records, materials and artefacts of significance to the cultural and religious heritage and maintenance of which is undertaken by the select vestry of St John's Tyrella. ACHIEVEMENTS, PERFORMANCE AND PUBLIC BENEFIT Our Mission is to Worship God, to share the good news of the gospel, to grow in faith and godly living through the teaching of scripture and by the strength and guidance of the Holy Spirit and to continue God's work in his world. We are small church community, seeking to be obedient to God's word and to live as members of the family of God. Our little church has been a sanctuary to many people throughout the generations,. a place of worship week by week, and a gathering place in life's greatest joys and tragedies. Our prayer is that St John's, within the larger Lecale Area Mission Partnership IL4MPI, will continue to be: A place where God's people can grow in Christian maturity through the teaching of His word, through prayer and through the sacraments. A place where those in need find help, and where the troubled find comfort, and a place where visitors find a friendly welcome and hear the good news of God's love. A place where we provide rites and ceremonies such as marriages and funerals. Our priority is to worship and glorify God in the power of the Holy Spirit, though word, song and prayer, and to encourage and enable those of all ages to participate. We seek to express biblical truth in a way that is relevant and that will lead us to grow in godliness and to honour Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. We want our Church to be a house of prayer as we regularly pray for one another, other Christians, world needs and evangelism. We recognise that care and concern for the individual was a hallmark of Jesus, ministry, therefore we aim to be a parish where confidentia I pastoral care is available to all. We aim for our church to be known for our loving attitude to our fellow parishioners, to the other churches in the area, and to those who have no meaningful church connection at all.

THE PARISH OF ST JOHN'S TYRELLA ST TRUSTEES, ANNUAL REPORT FOR YEAR ENDING 31 DECEMBER 2024 We recognise that small groups lin which everyone is free to contribute their thoughts and experiences) are an effective way of getting to grips with the Bible and we are committed to running regular short courses of group Bible study. We seek to be a generous community and good Stewards of our money, goods and time. By sharing what God has given us, we aim to help those who are in need and to assist those who do God's work both at home and abroad. Eg Annual donations to Missions and registered charities. Our Harvest Thanksgiving each year is one of our special seNices where all are welcome. We send out invitations and advertise in the local paper and it is always one of our better attended services. It has been our custom to have a special appeal and gather afterwards in the Church Hall for a time of fellowship. As part of the LAMP group, we join with Some other Parishes to take turns as host for the Evergreens group where senior members come together for food and fellowship. A Women's Fellowship Group with membership from a wide area meets monthly in our Church Hall. The Parish has considered the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered during the year have helped to achieve the Parish's objectives and activities, as well as providing public benefit. FINANCIAL REVIEW Funds held at year end decreased compared to last year by £529. The house which we rent out has been let at £490 per month. It has always been the policy to try and hold £20,000+ in reserve to cover unexpected expenditure. GOING CONCERN The Trustees have reviewed the budgets for the year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate funds in place to ensure that the Parish can continue its activities and the f inancial statements for the year ended 2024 can be signed off as a going concern. STRucfuRE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governing Document and Constitution of the Charity Chapter111 of the Constitution of the Church of Ireland governs Parishes and Parochial Organisation. The Select Vestry members are the Charity Trustees. RECRUITMENT AND APPOINTMENT OF SELEcf VESTRY (TRUSTEES) All members of the Church of Ireland who are over the age of 18 and are either resident within the parish or live elsewhere but have been accustomed members of the congregation for at least three months, may register as members of the general vestry of the parish, allowing them to attend and vote at meetings of the general vestry and to stand for election to the select vestry. Meetings of the general vestry are held at least once a year. The Select Vestry is elected as part of this General Vestry meeting. The Select Vestry will hold their positions for a period of one year. Select Vestry

PAY AND REMUNERATION St John's Tyrella is part of the group of Parishes called Lecale Area Mission Partnership ILAMPI and as such do not directly pay the Incumbent. Each Parish in the Group has been assessed and pays a monthly payment to the LAMP Group who are responsible for pay and remuneration. Our monthly payment was £830 per month for 2024. ORGANISATIONAL STRucfuRE The select vestry is responsible for the day-to-day management of the parish. The select vestry consists of the member of the clergy serving in the parish, the church wardens, and generally not more than ten other members of the general vestry elected at the General Vestry. The select vestry is chaired by the incumbent or other member of the clergy officiating in the parish. Select vestry members are responsible for making decisions on matters of general concern and importance to the parish including deciding how parish funds are to be applied. The select vestry meets at times fixed by the members or by the diocesan synod. Special meetings may be convened at any time by the chairperson or the church wardens. COMPLIANCE WITH PUBLIC BENEFIT The Parish has considered the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered during the year have helped to achieve the Parish's objectives and activities, as well as providing public benefit. STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES, RESPONBILITIES The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the statement of receipts and payments and statement of assets and liabilities in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland with Income of less than £250,000 requires the trustees to prepare a statement of receipts and payments and a statement of assets and liabilities for each financial year. The trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the parish's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the assets and liabilities for the Parish. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets to the parish and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud a nd other irregularities. Respective responsibilities of charity trustees and examiner As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. It is my responsibility to: Examine the accounts under Section 65 of the Charities Act Follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Commission under section 65191{b) of the Charities Act State whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of independent examine￿$ report I have examined your charity account5 as required under Section 65 of the Charities Act and my examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under Section 6519}Ibl of the Charities Act. My examination included a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as charity trustees concerning any such matters. My role is to state whether any material matters have come to my attention given me cause to believe: l. That accounting records were not kept in accordance with Section 63 of the Charities Act. 2. THE PARISH OF ST JOHN'S TYRELLA ST NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 Receipts and Payments Account All items of income and expenditure included with the Receipts and Payments Account have been accounted for on a cash receipts basis. Assets and Liabilities The Church Building and Graveyard are deemed to be Heritage assets as defined by the Charities SORP {FRS1021. These Heritage assets are not included in the Statement of Assets and Liabilities as information on the cost or valuation and such information cannot be obtained at a cost commensurate with the benefit to the users of the accounts and to the Parish. Church Hall The Church Hall is not included in the statement of assets as it is owned by the Down and Connor and Dromore Diocesan Board of Education and St John's Tyrella Parish has been given the sole use. The Parish is responsible for all associated maintenance and repair costs. Fixtures and Fittings A value of £20,000 has been included for fixtures and fittings. Investment Assets The house attached to the Church Hall is also owned by the Down & Connor and Dromore Diocesan Board of Education and the Parish has been given the use of it subject to bearing all maintenance and repair costs. It was initially used as a Sexton's house but is now rented out and provides the Church with a rental income.
