CAMPBELL. HELEN ENNIS, BRIAN MCMAHON, BRIAN MILLS, STUART RICHARDSON AND

CHARITABLE OBJEcfivES:
Using the power of drama to support and uplift young people from disadvantaged back8rounds is
Ilke usin8 a multi-faceted tool to build a stronger cornrnunity. Just as a Swiss Army knife combines
various tools to serve different purposes, drama performances serve multiple objectives. They not
only provide financial support to local charitable organisations through ticket sales but also offer
trainin8 and skills development opportunities through the use of dramatic arts. By continuing to
explore different art forms, these performances entertaln, educate. and stimulate local audiences,
participants, and users. Ultimately, this collective effort contributes towards creating a more
cohesive society.
CHARITY ACTIVITIES AND REVIEW OF THE YEAR:
BARDIC Theatre is like a welcomin8 haven for the community, where theatre and dance
come together to empower individuals. Bardic Theatre extends its facilities and expertise to
resldents of Mid Ulster. They offer comprehensive training in all aspects of the dramatic
arts, ensuring that everyone. regardless of their background or experience, can participate.
In doing so, Bardic opens doors of opportunity and encourages Inclusivity, fostering a sense
of belonging and shared passion for the performing arts within the local community.
During the meetin& Chairman Malachy Mccullagh provided a comprehensive overview of
the activities carried out in the previous year. He acknowledged the numerous challenges
that arose because of the pandemic and expressed his gratitude to everyone for their
unwavering commitment to Bardic.
Followin8 this, Artistic Director Brian Mcmahon outlined the exciting program planned for
the upcoming season, which promised to be a hectic one. Brian has successfully obtained

performance rights for two remarkable productions, namely "Glengarry Glenross" and the
beloved musical 'Evita.' Detailed discussions regarding dates, includin8 tour dates and
venues, will take place in the next meeting.
Furthermore, there is a hopeful plan for Bardic to organise its inaugural summer camp
musical in August 2022. Currently, the team is exploring the rights for potential shows. This
ambitious project aims to involve up to 70 young participants in an intensive rehearsal
period, culminating in a captivating stage performance within a two-week timeframe.
Brian also expressed his gratitude towards Bardic's sponsors and funders, namely the Arts
Council Nl, Moy Park and Mid Ulster council, for their continuous support. Their
contributions play a vital role in the success of Bardic's endeavours.
Charity Commlssions Public Benefit Requirement:
The trustees in setting the objectives and planning the activities for the year have given
careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Irelands guidance on public
benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charitvs purposes and
provide benefit to the beneficiaries.
Financlal Review:
The financial report for the year was presented at the 2023 AGM and accepted and
approved by the trustees. Brian Robinson Accountancy Ltd has carried out a review of these
accounts and has completed an Independent examinerfs report on the accounts.
Income for the year was £85,789 and expenditure for the year amounted to £89.828 giving
an overall deficit of £4.039 for the year.
The Trustees can confirm that the charity does not hold any funds that were materially in
deficit at the end of the year.
