DDCA Annual report and accounts for the period April 1 2022 to March 31" 2023.
Charity Activitles and Revlew of Year
Donaghmore District Community Association {DDCA) manages The Torrent Complex, a physical
community hub that redresses the imbalance of rural isolation and to empower the members of our
community.
We ensure the activities and projects we offer continue to address the needs of our users, working
with a range of older people, young people, families, disabled & able bodied, all genders, all
backgrounds and traditions through a range of projects, programmes and facilities within the
buildin8 and throu8h outreach projects.
In this period DDCA continued to develop the facilities and community programmes and liaised
closely with local community groups to improve the quality of services available in the local area.
The Torrent Complex continued to provide a wide range of health & fitness activities for the local
community, including over 30 fitness classes each week, and provides a number of afterschool
school activities that cater for over 400 children of all abilities. Activities include Gymnastics, Judo
and Football. The complex's facilities are used weekly for recreational activities and we provide
regular sporting facilities for 6 local schools. Recreational sports such as basketball, 5-a-5ide and
Gaelic Football were all well attended to throughout the year. The complex organised and facilitated
cross-community programmes and events throughout the year, including walking groups, Festive
Sunday, Multi-sport camps, coffee mornings, parent toddler group, torrent buddies (children with
additional need51 and 50+ club.
A new over 50s project called Yhe Social Network, was launched in direct response to calls from the
community to deal with isolation, loneliness and social inclusion within this specific demographic
across our rural hinterlands. From registration events held in March 2023, over 150 people have
signed up. The overall benefit of this project is that it will act as a catalyst in creating physical social
networks in a range of subject areas attracting people together where they can reap the benefits of
real connection with real humans.
All activities at the complex are fully inclusive to everyone in the community regardless of their
background. ability, age or religious beliefs. Additional Multi-sport camps were well received during
this period.
Charity Commissions Public Beneflt Requirement: The trustees in Setting the objectives and
planning the activities for the year have given careful consideration to the Charity Commi55ion for
Northern Irelands guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the
charity's purposes and provide benefit to the beneficiaries.

Financial Performance: In the year to March 31 2023 shows a surplus of £18,670. Main income
sources were similar to previous years through classes, and hire of facilities which include sports hall
and fitness suite as well as grant income for various projects. Salaries and instructor wages were the
main expenses, and as predicted maintenance costs and general running costs continue to rise.
