Trustees Report Corcrain Flute Band NIC 103424 1st October 2024 to 30th September 2025

The Chairman welcomed everyone to the AGM of Corcrain Flute Band which was held in the band hall on Monday 13 October 2025. Reports from the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer was presented, discussed and adopted.

The name of the Charity is Corcrain Flute Band.

The purpose of the Charity is to enhance and encourage its members in the musical arts, in particular the art of playing all aspects of flute and drum music and Ulster Scots culture;

A, advance the playing of all members for those that require personal tuition via its current members or external tuition.

B to educate the general public in the said art by promoting awareness of flute band music and Ulster Scots culture in Northern Ireland by the presentation of concerts and other activities. In the year under review these objectives have been followed.

The Trustees at the time of this report are John McCann. Kenny Shields, Emma Hoy, Meg McKeown, Albert Nicholl, Lucy Lapham, Sam Hoy and Christopher Hoy. There are therefore 8 Trustees of Corcrain Flute Band for the incoming year.

Corcrain Flute Band continues to entertain the public in Northern Ireland within the parameters of Public Benefit, no concerts or parades were performed outside Northern Ireland. Evidence as to the helpful nature of these performances is by way of positive response from audience and spectators and letter from the local MLA, expressing sincere thanks and appreciation for Corcrain Flute Bands' outstanding performance at the local Council V E Day celebration.

The Trustees are conversant with the requirements of The Charity Commission public benefit rules and fully comply.

Corcrain Flute Band continues to derive a satisfactory income from its activities and provides adequate resources to address all band costs without resorting to drawing upon capital. The main sources of income are from member's contributions, concerts and parades. Income and expenditure are similar year on year with the exception of an insurance claim for 2024. The Trustees are content to work within the parameters of income. Banding activities continued as normal, but as highlighted by the President in his opening comments, and in both Chairman and Secretary reports, recruitment of new members for both flute and percussion, including a conductor, continue to be a major issue. Four parades and 5 concerts were performed throughout the year, with a Nursing Home Concert postponed due to an virus outbreak. Highlight of the year included the 145th anniversary dinner and quiz night of Corcrain F B. during November and the V E Day concert in the local Civic Centre in May. Currently, membership includes 19 flute, 4 percussion and 4 guest players. Recruitment is ongoing without success despite several notices on social media platforms. The librarian continues to provide a range of new music while the interim conductor/chairman selects appropriate music for concerts to produce a well-balanced Corcrain sound.

No Charity funds are in deficit, nor would the Charity embark on any exercise which would place assets at risk.

Signed
