Trustees Report Corcrain Flute Band NIC 103424 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2024

The name of the Charity is Corcrain Flute Band.

The purpose of the Charity is to enhance and encourage its members in the musical arts, in particular the art of playing all aspects of flute and drum music and Ulster Scots culture;

A, advance the playing of all members for those that require personal tuition via its current members or external tuition and to improve the skills and confidence and integration into a group of all ages having an interest in their Ulster Scots culture.

B to educate the general public in the said art by promoting awareness of flute band music and Ulster Scots culture in Northern Ireland and abroad by the presentation of concerts and other activities. In the year under review these objectives have been followed.

The Trustees at the time of this report are John McCann. Kenneth Shields, Emma Hoy, Meg Mckeown, David Blair, Albert Nicholl, Lucy Lapham and Alistair Cairns. There are therefore 8 Trustees of Corcrain Flute Band.

Corcrain Flute Band continues to entertain the public in Northern Ireland within the parameters of Public Benefit, no concerts or parades were performed outside Northern Ireland. All of the engagements have taken place throughout Co. Armagh with the exception of R B P parade held in Ballygawley, Co. Tyrone. In total, 10 engagements were fulfilled to include 4 parades and 6 concerts, including 2 Christmas Carol concerts, one of which was in a Nursing Home. Evidence as to the helpful nature of these performances is by way of positive response from audience and spectators and repeat bookings. The concert held in a local school had 3.8 k views on the bands' Facebook page, which is a tremendous acknowledgement of our music. As with most other part flute bands, recruitment of members willing to learn to read music and play an instrument is a continuous challenge. Membership has increased by 4 with returning members and 2 learners and this has allowed the conductor to provide a

good sound balance to the concerts and parades.

The Trustees are conversant with the requirements of The Charity Commission public benefit rules and fully comply.

Corcrain Flute Band continues to derive a satisfactory income from its activities,chiefly members donations and from parades and concerts, and provides adequate resources to address all band costs without resorting to drawing upon capital. An insurance claim of a broken contrabass flute of £11650 increased income but this was spent on a new contrabass flute.The Trustees are content to work within the parameters of income.

No Charity funds are in deficit nor would the Charity embark on any exercise which would place assets at risk.

Signed
