The purpose of 'l'he Friends of Altnauelvin Charily (FOA) is to providc funding for the
enhanccmcnt ot.thc hospital cxperience for patients, relativcs and staff.
Itcms arc purchascd which are over and above what the.standard N148 procuremcni provides.
Examples include televisions, children's play equipmenl, OVLrnight chair-bcds for rclativcs
etc. Thc Charity docs not providc mcdical cquipm¢nt.
Each ycar, thc committcc issucs an intcrnal flycr to all departmentslwards, inviting requeqt%
for appropriate items which meet the Charily's critLria. In gLnLral, no rLquLst is dcclincd il. it

Charity's bank in granting access to both banking records and fund.%. Flurthermorc, thc Tru.%t'5

coinplicated. As a result of both these issues, the I,'OA iommittee regretfully f()und it
cxlrcmcly di Ificuli to tiind purchascs diiring thc ycar. Plowcvcr, as thc Trust was still holding

approve a number of requests including furniture for the ICU relatives, rooin. iteiii% for

clarified and simplitied the procurement process for items being fundcd by the Charity.
rinally, the trustees would like to take this opportuiiity to pay tribute to Mr Kanwar l)unesar
who sadly passcd away in May 2025. Mr Pancsar was a dcdicatcd and much rcspcclcd
con,gult(Int %Lirgenn in Altnagielvin I lo%pital for most of his working life. In more recent years
hc was Prcsidcnt of Thc friends of. Altnagclvin charily. Hc will bc vcry sadly misscd.

BASIS of independent exAminer s report
We have examined your charity accounts as rLquired under section 65 of the Charities Act
and our examination was carried out in accordancc with ihc general Directions given by the
Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under scction 65{9)(b) ofihc CharitiLS ALt.
Our cxamination includcd a review of the accounting records kept by thc charity and a
comparison ofthc acLoiinls presented with those records. It also includcd considcralion of
any unusual items or di5closurcs in thc accounls, and secking explanations froin you as
charity tru5tee5 concerning any such matters.
Our rolc is to state whether any material Inatters havc comc to our altention giving us cause
