## **Trustees Report for the year 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024** 

## **Purpose** 

The Broughshane Historical Society is established to advance education in BROUGHSHANE and its environs of The BRAID VALLEY [hereinafter called ‘area of benefit’] by a. Studying and encouraging the study of the history, historical and cultural heritage of the area of benefit. 

b. Raising awareness among the general public in the area of interest and beyond and encouraging appreciation of, and knowledge of the historical and cultural heritage of the area of interest.

The society held 7 meetings, a visit and ran the village museum

## **Programme** 

23 members attended the AGM. 

Ill health meant that one of the speakers was unable to make his presentation in February as planned, so last minute adjustments to the programme had to be made. 

The costs of the April meeting and the AGM will be included in the 2024-5 accounts.

## **Society Accounts** 

These had a surplus of £448.44, mainly because; many of the speakers didn’t take any expenses, 

no receipts were presented for refreshments, most communications were done on line, the costs of 2 meeting held after the end of the financial year are not included. 

## **Membership** 

32 members + 23 guests. 

## **Fees** 

Were unchanged for the 2023-24 session. 

## **Museum Finance** 

The museum account had a surplus of £2612.00, most of which was due to a donation of £1110.00, by Dr Tony Redmond, and gift aid payment of £1085.00 

## **Museum Plans** 

Work continues on the digitisation of the museum catalogue, and improving the displays and layout, work on new cabinets is being delayed by difficulty finding someone to undertake the construction of the cabinets, and dealing with a leak in a roof light that is close to the intended position of the new cabinet. 

Work continues improving existing and creating new recordngs of local life. (Most are available on YouTube)
