ended 31st March 2025.
Objectives and attivitles
St Brigid's Women's Group was established in October 1999, to empower women livln8 in
the Carnhill Area (SOA Carnhlll 1&21. A small group of local women came together to discuss
ways in which women wilhln the Carnhill estate could move forward. Improve their life
chances & effect positive chan8e for thernselves & their commtsnlty. The group 15 based
wlthln Carnhill, an area that is particularly deprlved & impoverished especlally in terms of
employment opportunitie5. Poverty & unemployment In Carnhill have exacerbated a whole
range of social problems, Including family breakdown. poor health, yOLilh disaffection,
drugs & crime. The recent deprivatlon indice5 have ranked Carnhill in the top IO% of wards
in Nl suffering for multlple deprivation, chlld povertyi income deprlvation & health
deprivation. Since October 1999, the group have rented a small room within the local
parish hall. Wllh help from small grants, local fundralslng & donatlons In klnd the group
ha5 been able to deliver various course5 such as Tia Chi, Aqua Aerobics, Swlmming
Lessons, Zumba Gold, Healthy Eating, Creative writin8, Knittin81 Crochetin8, Aris &
Craft5, Personal Development, Communlty Development Iralnlng & visits to Stormont
to talk to political parties to discuss the issues that effect them & their communlty. For local
chlldren each year we set up a summer scheme & a bus trip to the beach for the local
residents l.e. parents, children, grandparents etc.

opportunltles, feedback from the committee & volvnteers involved with training & events,
focus groups & evaluation/monitoring carried out for all work carried out. ThÈre is no harrn
flowlng from thls purpose. Beneflciarles of thls purpose are re51dents (Women, parents &
Volunteers) within the Greater Shantallow Area. A prlvate beneflt may arise to committee
members who may from tlme to time avail of training programmes In matlers such as
governance, but this is necessary for professlonal siandards to be maintained to carry out
the work of St Brlglds Women's Group & to ensure the beneflt Is provided to our
beneflclaries.

particular th95e related to the operatlons and finances of the association, and are 5atlsfied
that sysiems are in place to mltlEate the exposure to the major risk5.

Members Responslblllties In Rèlation To The Flnanclal Statements
The members are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financlal statements In
accordance wilh applicable law and Unlted Kln8dom Generally Accepteij Accountin6 Practlce.
The law applicable to chafitles in Northern Ireland requlres the members to prepare the
financial statements that glve a true and fair view of the State of affalrs of the charlty at the
end of the financial year and of Its surplus or deficit for the financial year. In dolng so the
members are required to:
select sultable accounilng policies and apply them conslstently;
observe methods and principles In the Chawltles SORP;
rnake judgements and e5tlmates thai are rèasonable and prudent;
prepare the financi315tatements on the golng concern basis unless It Is
inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
The members 8re responsible for malntalnlng proper accountin8 records whlch dlsclose
with reasonable accuracy at any tlme the flnanclal positlon of the charlty and enables them
to ensure that the financlal statements comply wlth the necessary legislatlon. The members
are a150 responsible for safe8uard5n8 the assets of the charity and hence for taking
asonable steps for the prevention and detectlon of fraud and other irregularllles.
