We have examlned your charity accounts as requlred under Section 65 of the Charltles Act and our
examination was carrled out in acccrdance wlth the general directions 8lven by the Charlty
Commlsslon for Northern Ireland undei Section 6519)Ib) ol the Charltles Act.
Our examination included a revlew of the a¢countlng wecords kepl by the charily and a comparlson of
Ihe accounts presenled wlth those records. It also Included conslderatlons of any Unusual Iterns or
dlsclcsures in the accoun15, and seeking explanatlon from you as chafity members concerning any
such matters.

ended 31st March 2025.
Objectlves and activitles
5t Brigld's Women's Group was establlshed In October 1999. to empower women livlng In
the Carnhlll Area (SOA Carnhlll 1&2). A Small Eroup of local women came together to discu55
ways in which women withln the Carnhill estate could move forward. Improve their life
chances & effect positlve change for themselves & their communlty. The group is based
wlthin Carnhill, an area that 5$ particularly deprlved & Impoverlshed especlally In terms of
employment opportunltle5. Poverty & unemployment In Carnhill have eKacerbated a whole
range of Social problems Includlng famlly breakdown, PODr health, youth disaffectlon,
drugs & crime. The recent deprlvatlon indices have Tanked Carnhlll In the top IO% of wards
in Nl sufferin8 for multlple deprivation, chlld poverty, Income deprlvatlon & health
deprlvatlon. Slnce October 1999, the group have rented a small room within the local
parlsh hall. Wilh help Irom small grants. local fundralsln8 & donatlon5 In klnd the group
has been able to delNer vacious courses such as fia Chl, Aqua Aeroblcs, Swlmmlng
Lessons, Zumba Gold, Healthy Eatin& Creative wrltSnB, Knittin8 / CrochetlnEI Arts &
Crafts, Personal Development, Communlty Development trdlnlng & visits to Stormont
to talk to polttical parties to discuss the issues that effect them & thelr communltv. For local
chIld￿n each year we set up a summer scheme & a bus trlp to the beach for the local
residents i,e. parents. chlldren, grandparents etc.

opportunltles. feedback from the committee & volunteers involved with training & events,
focus groups & evaluationlmonitorin8 carried out for all work carried out. There is no harm
flowing from thls purpose. Beneficiarles of this purpose are residents (Women, parents &
Volunteers) within the Greater Shantallow Area. A prlvate benefit may arise to committee
membérs who may from tlme to time avail of training programmes In matlers such as
governance, but this is necessary for professlonal slandards to be maintèined to carry out
the work of St Brlglds Women's Group & to ensure the beneflt Is provided to our
beneflciaries.

The members have assessed the major risks to which the organisatlon Is exposed, In
particular those related to the operations and finances of the association, and are satisfied
that systems are In place to mltigate the exposure to the rnajor risks.

Members Responslblllties In Relation To The Flnanclal Statements
The members are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financlal statements In
accordance wilh applicable law and Unlted KSngdom Generally Accepted Accountin8 Practice.
The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland requlres the members to prepare the
financial statements that glve a true and fairview of the state of 3ffalrs of the chariiy at the
end of the financial year and of Its surplus or deficit for the financial year. In doln£ so the
members are requlred to:
select sultable accountlng policies and apply them conslstentlyj
observe methods and principle5 in the Charitles SORP;
- make judgements and estlmates that are reasonable and prudent.
P￿pare the financial statement5 011 the golng concein basis unless it Is
inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in bu5ine55.
The members are responsible for malntainlng proper accounting records whlch dlKlose
with reasonable accuracy at any lime the flnancial posltion of the charlty and enables them
to ensure that the financial statements compty with the necessary legislatlon. The members
are also responsible for safe8u3rding the assets of the charity and hence for taklng
reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularltles.
