Activities

[a] The encouragement of research into and study of the history and culture of the people of Northern Ireland and in particular those known as the Scotch-Irish and the links of that history and culture with those of other countries, and the advancement of the knowledge of the public in those subjects. [b] the provision of scholarships bursaries and grants for the carrying out by the recipients thereof of research into and study of the said subjects and the writing of papers and theses showing the results of such research. [c] the provision of financial and material assistance for carrying out such research and study and for the publication of books, treatises and papers on the said subjects. [d] the acquisition [whether by way of purchase, gift, lease or otherwise] restoration, preservation and maintenance for the public resort and benefit of buildings or other real or leasehold property in Northern Ireland which have an historic association with the history and culture of the people of Northern Ireland or with distinguished and famous people of Ulster descent in other countries. [e] the support and assistance of any activity purpose association or body of an exclusively charitable nature which advance any of the objects set out in paragraphs [a] to [d] above. [f] the carrying out of such further things as are necessary or desirable for the furtherance of the objects set out in paragraphs [a] to [d] above, provided that nothing shall be done under the authority of this paragraph which is not exclusively a charitable purpose. [g] such further or other objects of an exclusively charitable nature as the Trustees may from time to time with the approval of Her Majesty's Attorney-General for Northern Ireland for the time being determine.
