TAscrr has also iiufiated a Promoting Positive Change Programme and in September 20?2 it facilitated a

involved in reconciliation work than ever before. Fear of Ihe 'other' is being replaced by inquiry and a desire to
know and undei'sland those who have different political. cultural or religious outlooks to 'us'.
I'm delighted lo say (hat oot only did NBIN achieve the majority of the objecuves li set out to achieve but in
many areas it has surpassed what inany ol us would not have thought POS5ible at time.
Although thiiigs have certainly changed a lot here in North Belfast sinc¢ 2003 thai is not fo say that everything
is ro.sy in rhe gardeii. There arc 5ti11 many is.4ues where agreemeniis in short supply. Alihough interface
violence has been significantly reduced rhere is still rnore of sectarian crime in North Belfast in East and
Soiitli Belfast cornbined. There ts still a lot of work for NBIN to get along with biit if anything the lasi twenty
years has shown us that pro8rrss can be made if Ihere is a continued commilmeiit to dialogue. problem 801ving

Finally none of this would be achievable without those wliowork wiih vs, the residents who engage in all
