Killygullib Rural Development Association
The AGM of KRDA was held on Thursday 5[th] April 2018 at 8.00pm in Killyguillib Orange Hall. The following were re-elected :-
Chairperson Noelleen Carson Treasurer Moira Alexander Secretary Gail Linton Committee – David Matthews, Kyle McKinley, Elma Reid, Norma McKinley, Alan Linton
Treasurer Moira Alexander then reported to the meeting, profit from the 2017 Christmas dinner was £658.35. , an additional amount of £176.20 was raised with a raffle at the dinner. Again lack of fundraising events throughout the year was highlighted. Overall bank balance is healthy at approximately £6640.55
Treasurer Moira Alexander also said that the annual stew evening held in the autumn time realised a sum of £324.74, it was agreed by all that this particular event was always well attended though there was a bit of preparation required.
The secretary Gail Linton then made reference to the grant that was obtained through DAERA for £1499.84 , although the group had to add 25% to this amount everyone was happy with the purchase of the additional chairs and the freezer for the kitchen, Gail also noted that a representative from DAERA had been out to check the new equipment and sign off on the grant
David Matthews then suggested that as a group we should be attempting to increase the educational awareness of our area on the battle of the somme and numerous battles. He stated that there was a perception that only Protestants fought in the war which was totally wrong as both sides of the community from this area lost their lives on the battle field. He suggested that as 2021 was an important centenary for Northern Ireland , as a group we should look about educating the local community. It was agreed by all present to be a good idea.
Election of officers – Jonathan Turner proposed that all officers be elected en bloc , this was seconded by Aaron Linton, as there was no other proposals all officers were congratulated on their re-electon
It was agreed that the next meeting of KDRA would be held on Monday 8[th] April 2019.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 9.30pm.
