ST JOHN VIANNEY YOUTH CENTRE TRUSTEE'S REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2018 The Trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 St March 2018. The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the accounts and comply with the charity's constitution, the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 and °Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practi applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)" applicable from 1 January 2016. Objectives and activities The charity's objects are the provision, maintenance and promotion of facilities and activities of a social, spirrtual, educational and recreational nature wrth the objective of improving the conditions of life of children and young people without distinction of sex, political, religious or other opinion. St John Vianney Youth Centre aims to broaden the horizons and Sife expectations of our children and young people and assist them to become active citizens in their ommunity and beyond into the wider world around them. The management committee have paid due iegard to guidan issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake. During the year the charity undertook a number of outcome-based programmes aimed at broadening the spiritual. educational and recreaknonal outlook of its members. Some of these programmes included.. Some of the main achievements during the year were. 274 young people Vire registered as regular members of the youth centre. 200+ young people participated in the summer inteNention programme.
8 young people and 2 staff participated in an international project to Romania. Extended opening which allowed the centre to operate at key weekend times and provide vital oulreach work within the area. Stsff training and development During the year the staff of the charity re1ve appropriate training and development to assist in their delivery of service provision and meet the ever-changing needs of the beneficiaries. Active Communities Belfast City Council Belvoir Youth Centre Clarawood Youth Centre Financial review The charity retumed net incoming resources for year of £803 (2017 £178) leaving unrestricted funds of £,423 (2017 £1.620) and restricted funds of £0 (2017 £0). The unrestricted fvnds are considered to be e&8enlial to provide sufficient funds to cover any unforeseen costs which may arise and fvlfil legal oblatlS of the charity in the event that current levels of income are not maintsined. The charity uses facilities at 13 River Terra, Ormeau Road, Belfast, BT7 2EN. In accordan with the policy of the Diocese of Down and Connor, title to the property is held by Dioca¢e of Down and Connor Trust*, the sole trustee of Down and Connor Diocesan Trust. Rent is charged at £1,613.00 per annum. The management committee has assessed the major risks to which the charty is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks Structure, governance and management The charity is a registered charity for taxation purposes. The day to day affairs of the charty are carried out by the centre manager and controlled by a local management committee. The management Committ who served during the year were.. St John Vianney Youth Centre is a charty which is registered with the HMRC and which is governed by the Down and Connor Youth Commission Youth Centre Constitution. The management committee's report was approved by the Trustees. Trustees Dated: The management commFttee are responsible for preparing the Management Committee's report and the accounts in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards {united Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland requires that management committee to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of reSoUrS of the charity for that year. In preparing these accounts, the management commtttee are required to: Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently., Observe the methods and principles in the charsties SORP {FRS 102)., Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; stste weather applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any matenal departures disclosed and explained in the accounts", and Prepare the accounts on the going conrn basis unless rt is inappropriate to presume that the cI3fFty will continue in operation. The management committee is responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to enaure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008, the Accounting and Reporting by Charities; Statement of Recommended Practice applicable iri the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS 102} (effective 1 January 2016) and the Drovisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charty and hence for taking reasonable steps for the pi evention and detection of iraud and utlier iiregularities.
