WHAT WE DO

Impact Network NI provides Community Development, Social Enterprise, Health and Wellbeing, Peace / Reconciliation and Good Relations support to communities.

Impact Network NI is a source of excellence, promoting ambition, knowledge, involvement, and wellbeing through community development support to communities across Northern Ireland. Impact Network NI is committed to tackling the impact of poverty and economic crisis in communities.

Over the last 21 years, the organisation has delivered over 1350 training and community events, they continually develop initiatives to increase community involvement

As a result, over 22,500 people have and are continuing to be empowered within a structure of community support.

• As part of our commitment to support marginalised communities we encourage each of these communities to take the lead on their own development and capitalise all the opportunities available to them. Working with partners such as Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

NICHI Health Alliance Connecting & Involving Communities

NETWORKS INVOLVING COMMUNITIES IN HEALTH IMPROVEMENT (N.I.C.H.I.)

The Networks Involving Communities in Health Improvement programme has continued to support community groups in health and wellbeing activity. Since the beginning of the NICHI role, through diverse methods we have engaged with over 450 groups in the Community, Voluntary and Statutory sectors and successfully provided educational training and support for improving health and social well being and reducing health inequalities to over 900 individuals.

This year’s highlights include:

✓ Provision of health and wellbeing information distributed to over 1,200 individuals/families/ groups at annual community health events including NRC Fresher Fairs.

✓ NICHI officer delivered tailored training including Community Development, Health Literacy and social model of health training to 5 NICHI Model groups to over 60 people.

SUICIDE PREVENTION DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Impact Network NI was commissioned by the Public Health Agency , Northern locality. The role of Suicide Prevention Development Officer was taken up by Laura McCaughey in November 2021. Impact Network NI are committed to increasing community involvement in suicide prevention through various mediums of community development, raising awareness and education, capacity building and resilience, partnership working and managing information.

Our Suicide Prevention Development Officer works in partnership with groups across our localities to help guide them and support their needs with regards to mental and emotional wellbeing and suicide prevention.

Since the beginning of the SPDO role, through various methods we have engaged with many groups/ individuals in the Community, Voluntary and Statutory sectors and successfully provided educational training for Mental & Emotional Wellbeing and Suicide Prevention.

Some of the activities lead by Impact Network NI, Suicide Prevention Development Officer in the past year includes:

✓ Information giving and sharing at 234 events.

✓ Distributed 1,397 Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing Information Packs to 36 groups.

✓ Consulted on documents including SPDO Toolkit

✓ Completed 44 individual interventions with people at risk.

✓ Co-ordinated local activities and initiatives to highlight 11 specific annual dates such as World Mental Health Day, World Suicide Prevention Day, Self-Harm Awareness Day, World Health Week, Mental Health Awareness Week, National Stress Awareness Day, International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, National Minority Mental Health Month, National Men’s Health Week, Blue Monday and Children’s Mental Health Week.
