## **Summary of Charities Main Activities:** 

During the past year, Orangefield Flute Band has taken place in a wide range of events. It has held rehearsals, band practices and workshops on more than 50 occasions throughout the year, training our members and members of the public, young and old, in the arts of flute and percussion. 

To further the public knowledge and awareness of our heritage and history, we participated in the Schomberg Society’s Annual Ulster Scots Festival by providing music during the day on the stage. 

The band participated in a wide range of parades during the year, including the annual Somme anniversary parades, local competition parades. 

During the year the band took part in a number of indoor events including the Flute Band Association contest in the civic centre in Lisburn, we travelled to Ballymena to take part in a grade 2 competition and took part in some local concerts to support good causes. 

At Christmas, we played Christmas carols at our two local nursing homes, namely Brooklands and Slieve Row House. This was enjoyed by both the residents and the staff. 

During the year we have learned many new pieces and recorded some of these for a CD we will be hope to finalise in the near future. 

We continue the provision of our free musical resource to our members and the wider community and continue to work to promote and preserve our Ulster Scots musical culture and traditions by taking part in many events and by explaining the historical context of many of the pieces that we perform. 

We the Trustees of Orangefield Flute Band confirm that we have regard to the Commission’s Public benefit requirements whilst carrying out our activities. 

## **Summary of Charities Financial Position at the end of the year:** 

The band began the year with a balance of £5,650.44. It had an income of £9,715.69 which resulted from grants including Tuition from the Ulster Scots Agency, a HMRC gift aid claim, playing fees for various concerts, proceeds from a Fry Night and Golf Classic and voluntary donations from members. 

We had expenditure totalling £4,224.21 which included the purchase of new instruments, uniform adjustments, rent of hall, tutors fees, insurance, NIBA and Flute Band League fees, competition entry fees, bank fees, recording fees for a new CD and fry night expenses. 

At the 


end of the year the band had a balance of £11,141.92  in its account.
