All members of the Committee shall retire annually but shall be eligible for election or appointment

Tlje Committe¢ coiisists of fifteen members. The Executive Committee are responsible for the
strdtegic direction and policy of the organisation. Committee members are from a variety of
proftssional backgrounds relevant to the work of the charity. Tlie Committee as a whole was approved
by the AGM and coiitinues to monitor its rnembership.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIvfiIES
The principal activity of tlie charity is to oifer encouragement, support, and information to women in
the Foyle area. Our inain objective is to in¢rease the capacity, visibility, and voice of women
throughout the North-west. Tlie Strategy used to Ineet the objectiv¢ includes working closely with
lo¢al women's organisations and developin8 relatioiiships with women's organisations regtonally,
nationally, and internationally. We review our aims, objectives, and activities each y¢ar to ensure that
they remain f￿used on their stated purposes.

ACHLEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
FWtN was established in 1994 by Derry City Council who recogiiized that women were working away in
their local coinmunities however there was no cross over or engagement betweeii or across th¢ divide and
thus the network was established to bring women togetlier to build reIationsliips and begin tlie road to
reconciliation.
Tlie focus of the cliariws work is to provide a supportive place for women and woinen's groups to meet
from all th¢ different neiglibourhoods, and venues over DenylLondonderry. Such gatlierings have provided
opportunities for women to discuss health issues, educational matters and politics. Women are a150 given
tlie platforn) to ty new ideas, ￿ake new contacts and friends and to offer and excliaiige infomiation.
This year has seeii FWIN work iii a hybrid method - using both online and face to face activities I
would like to tliank our tutors for continuing to work and make the change with us.

We did have a live Cliatty Women Programme on our Fac¢book pag¢ ¢v¢ry Thursday with chat on
topical issues, banter and an inspirational speaker ¢v¢ry week unfortunately this has come to an end
and I would like to diank all our guests who took part.

This programme is funded by Department for Commuttities via the Fresli Start Programme B5 and it aims
to increas¢ the particlpation and influeii¢e of wornen in community developinent I community leadersliip
and in tsckling community issues. The executive programme for women in community development
designed to enable women's organisation's to continue to cary out transformative community development
work in our communities but also to ensure that women are equipped with the necessary skills and
knowledge to take on more leadership roles in public decision-making. This program of work is being
delivered in 26 areas across Northern Ireland with our partners TWN, INTERCOMM and Cooperation
Ireland.
One area of focus In the North West has been developin¢7 women in the justice system partnerships with
local women's groups and organisations within the justice system for example the Prisoiis, Courts,
probations service etc.

makers and funders on behalf of tlie women's sector, provides support to groups aiid distributes

FWTN supported over 250 childmi this year in our campaign and we would like to thank those involved for
their support and generosity duriiig these most difficult times. We partnered with Downtown Radio Cash
for Kids Christmas Mission.
Other Activities
We Iield a very su¢cessfiJl Networking day iii September. we lield two sumn]er splasli bus trips one to
Antrim Castle Gardens and the otlier one to Portstewart and Portrusli followed by a beautiful ineal in the
Royal Court Hotel.
FWIN also became a partner 011 the Ukrainian Appeal and worked with the YMCA to send out help and
support to those in need,

FllYANCIAL REVIEW
Total incoming resources for the year were £161,281 (202 I: £159,751), of which approximatsly 990/0
(2021:9W/) was generated from grants and contracts and 10/0 (2021,. 10/0) froin donations and
fundraising activities. Totsl resources expended by the charity were £155.042. {2021: £158,402).
Approximately 9W/o (2021.. 99 % ) of this wa5 expended oil direct charitable activities and l % (202]..
] 0/0) on 8overnance costs.
RESERVES POLICY
The Executive Coinmittee consider it prudent to hold inonies in reserve in tlie evei)t that unforeseen
ircumstances should lead to fiiiaiic7al difficulties whicl) might put tlie future of its employirlent
capacity, users, well-being and general charitable work in jeopardy.
A formal policy on reserves ha5 been agreed by tl)e Committee members which stipulates that free
reserves be maintaiiied at a level whicli ensures that the cliarity's core activity could c011tiiiue during a
period of unforeseen difficulty. Free reserves ar¢ defjned by the Cornmittee as those funds freely
available for us¢ as the charity so determines and thereby excludes any restricted or designated funds.
The Committees, policy is that the amount of free reserves should refiect Six months expenditure plus
any additional core costs. Based on 2021122 ¢xpenditure (excluding depreciation) of £154,660 that
amount would be £77,330. Fr¢¢ r¢s¢rves at 31 st March 2022 are £55,883 (720/0 of the target level).
Tlie Committee eoiitinues to strive to build a general level of reserves that lias six months of
expenditure in reserve so that they will be able to contii)ue the current activities of the charity. In the
short term, the Committee have also considered tlie extent to which existing activities and expeiiditure
should be curtailed, sl)ould circumstaiices arise.
PLANS FOR OIJR FUTURE PERIODS
The focus of the charity's future work is to provide a supportive place for women and wom¢ii's groups
to meet from all the different neighbourhoods and venues over DerrylLoJidoiideny. Such gatlierings
have provided opportunities for women to discuss health issues, educational matters. and politics.

TRUSTEES, RESPONSIBILITIES STATEMENT
The trustees, who are also cominittee members, are responsible for preparing the trustees, report and
the financial stateineiits in accordance with the applicable law and Uiiited Kingdom Accounting
Standards (United Kingdoin Geiierally Accepted Accouiitiiig Practice.)

view of the state of affairs of the charitable company and the incoming rcsources and application of

In preparing tliese financial statements, the Injstees are required to:

Charity and enable them to ensure that the financial stateinents comply with legislation. They arc also
respoiisible for safeguardin8 the assets of the charity and hence for taking the reasonabl¢ steps for the
prevention and detection of fraud and oth¢r irregularities.
