TRUSTEES, ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31" JANUARY 2021
The Trustees present the Annual Report and Statements of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Liabilities for
the County Tyrone Frontier Relief Society for the year ended 31. January 2021
OBJECTS AND ACTIVTfiES
Th¢ society has been established for charitable purposes only. In particular the society is eslablished to relieve the
poverty of widows and orphans of prrsons killed by violence in Northern Ireland who are in necessitous
circumstances.
T￿re arc currcntly 28 widows on the roll of th¢ Society in County Tyrone and each year we wve them a
Christmas Grdnt, provide them iiqth floivers prior to Easter. take them out for a meal and social function in the late
Spring and send them a maintenance grant during the summer if funds permit to deal with nornial household
cxpcnses. Th¢ grants and flow¢TS are pcrsonally d¢liv¢r¢d by Trustee members in their respective areas. thus
k¢¢ping us in regular contact to deal with any needs or concerns that arise from time to time. This Social
int¢rnction glves the widows the opportunity to meet oth¢rs in similar circumstanc¢s to th¢mselv¢s and build
relationships that otherwise would never have been possible.
We keep them updated on grants available from organizations such as the Memorial Fund and those of a similar
ethos in th¢ 'Victims' sector.
ACHIEVEMENT, PERFORMANCE AND PUBLIC BENEFrr
In revi¢winB the year 2020-21. the Trustees are aware of the n¢ed to continu¢ to se¢k out donations from those and
others who ar¢ sympath¢tic to th¢ work that wc arc doing for th¢ widows and orphans.
During this y￿r howcver it wasn't tK)5sibl¢ to visit thc widows during the pandemic. Howevcr we continucd to
send them their summer maintenance grant and the Chrisljnas ￿ant alon¥ with a cheque at Easter to treat
themselves in whatever way they telt like pampering themselves. Regular phone contact was kept in place and the
responses received in l¢tl¢rs and E.mails acknowledged the bcncfit of this pcrsonal sup￿rt. Unfortunately we
were unable to hold the annual dinner due to the pandemic and this was greatly miss¢d by those who regularly
attended. Unfortunalely some of OUT regular contributors were unable to support our fundraising during the
pandemic due to r￿UCed funds but hopefully that will improve &s we emerge from the pandemic.
Thc attached financial accounts show the amounl of donalions received frorn various sources. This varies from
year to year 85 does our expenses but our target each year is around £7.000 which allows u5 to carry out our four
main core acts'vili¢s. This y¢ar for r¢asons stated above we are down over £1.900 where the previous year there
was a surplus of approximat¢ly £650. As a resuli of the reduced income we were not in a position in the summer
to pay out the full maint¢nanc¢ grant.
In conclusion th¢ Tn￿le¢S have giv¢n Careful consideration lo the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's
guidance on public ben¢f)t to ensure that ihe activities entered into during ihe year have helped to achieve their
objectives and activities, as well as providing public benefit and would concur that these have been met during
2020 by the various activities in which we are engaged.
