Objectives and Activities
Limavady Central Primary School PTA is an active Parent Teacher Association made up of elected parents and staff who work together to organise fundraising and social events for the benefit of the pupils of Limavady Central Primary School, their families and the wider community.
The purpose of the Association is to advance the education of pupils in the school, in particular by:

fostering and improving relationships between home and school

supporting the school through fundraising and volunteering
-
providing or contributing towards resources, activities and opportunities that benefit pupils
-
supporting wider community engagement, including links with families and preschool children
The PTA works closely with the Principal and school staff to identify areas where support can be provided and to ensure that all funds raised are used for the benefit of the school and its pupils.
The PTA also supports wider family and community engagement through activities and events that bring together children, parents, staff and the local community.
Public Benefit Statement
The trustees confirm that they have had regard to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit.
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school
The benefit flowing from this purpose includes stronger links between parents, families, the school and the wider local community, together with additional support and resources for the school.
This is demonstrated through:

encouraging parental involvement in school life

organising events and initiatives which support the school community

working in partnership with the school to support its educational and community aims
This purpose does not give rise to any harm.
The beneficiaries are the children attending Limavady Central Primary School, together with their families and, where appropriate, the wider school community.
Trustees (who are often parents of pupils at the school) may benefit in the same way as other parents and families involved in the school community. Any such benefit is incidental and necessary in order to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide benefit to all beneficiaries.
Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school
The benefit flowing from this purpose includes improved educational opportunities, enhanced school experiences, and access to additional resources, activities and events which may not otherwise be available through the school’s direct funding.
This is demonstrated through:

supporting educational and recreational activities

helping to enhance pupils’ school experience

contributing to opportunities that support children’s development and wellbeing

Achievements and Performance
During the 2022–2023 financial year, the PTA was pleased to resume a full programme of fundraising and community events in support of Limavady Central Primary School.
The year represented a significant return to normal PTA activity, with strong support received from parents, families, staff, local businesses and the wider community. The trustees were encouraged by the level of engagement across a wide range of events and initiatives, which helped to strengthen school-community links while also generating valuable funds for the benefit of pupils.

These events and initiatives provided opportunities for children, parents, staff and the wider school community to come together while also raising funds to support the work of the PTA and the educational experience of the pupils.
During the year, the PTA received a total income of £25,597.26 , comprising fundraising income, grant funding, online donations and bank credit interest.
Funds available during the year were used to support a number of important schoolrelated activities and initiatives, including:

Primary 7 ties for post-primary school

a contribution towards school trips

NCPTA / Parentkind membership

support for school and PTA events and activities throughout the year
The purchase of the interactive boards represented a particularly significant investment in the school’s learning environment and will provide ongoing benefit to pupils and staff in future years.
The trustees are satisfied that the PTA continued to provide clear public benefit during the year by supporting the educational experience, wellbeing and school life of the children at Limavady Central Primary School.

Net Movement in Funds for the Year

The charity’s income during the year exceeded its expenditure by £6,851.01 . This reflects a successful year of fundraising and grant support, together with careful management of expenditure and the continued commitment of volunteers, parents, staff and supporters.
The trustees are pleased that the charity was able both to invest significantly in school resources and to increase the funds carried forward for future use in support of the school and its pupils.

The trustees are satisfied that the charity’s income and expenditure during the year were applied in accordance with its charitable purposes.
Structure, Governance and Management
The charity is governed by its constitution and is managed by the elected PTA Committee, who are the charity trustees.
The committee is made up of parents and staff members who volunteer their time to organise activities, manage fundraising and oversee the administration of the charity.
Trustees are elected in accordance with the Association’s governing document and work closely with the school Principal and staff to identify priorities and agree the appropriate use of funds raised.
During the year, the committee continued to meet and work together to plan events, oversee fundraising activity and ensure that funds were applied effectively for the benefit of the school community.
Risk Management
The trustees recognise their responsibility to ensure that the charity is properly managed and that appropriate procedures are in place.
The main risks to the charity relate to:

volunteer availability and capacity
• safeguarding of children and young people involved in PTA activities
The trustees seek to manage these risks by:

working closely with the school and following school procedures where appropriate

As the charity works for the benefit of children and young people, the trustees recognise that its beneficiaries include vulnerable beneficiaries, and safeguarding remains an important consideration in the charity’s activities.
