Review of activities and achievements
The Statement of Receipts and Payments on Page 7 sets out the results for the year. The
purpose of the funds is outlined in the notes to the linancial statements.
The Trustees are indebted to the funding bodies for their support and the opportunities the
funding provides to the group.
The group were successful in securing funding from Derry City and Strabane District
Council grant aid to help towards costs for the 1 Oth annual community festival.
The festival included a Tractor and Truck Display which attracted in excess of 150 vehicles.
youth sports activities. Old Peoples Christmas Dinner and the annual "Festival of Lights '
event on Newtownstewart Main Street. It proved to be a great family event bringing large
crowds of up to 2,000 people to the town to spectste, participate and enjoy.
The group worked with various other local Groups including St Patricks Parent Support
Group , local sports Clubs Two Castles Boxing Club and Naomh Eoghan GAA as well as
Newtownstewart Young Farmers Club.
As with all community groups in Northern Ireland the group continues to have trouble in
obtaining long term funding. However, in view of the grants awarded, fundraising and with
volunteer support, the trustees are confKJent that the group can continue its activities and
therefore satisfied that is appropriate for the financial statement to be prepared on the going
concern basis.
