COLMAN CALLAN Chairperson

We are looking forward to further development of our services by providing excellence in opportunities for disabled people and their families. Our next steps include planning for the long term of the charity through investment in infastructure.

From 2022 to 2023 Foyle Parents and Friends has continued to establish itself as one of the leading Charities for Disablilites in the North West of Ireland. Our services have gone through a period of consolidation giving us time to plan and evaluate our future.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2023-2024

Day Opportunities

Our day opportunity- the Tuned In Project offers adults with disabilities the opportunity to take part in programmes to develop resilient mental health, social/ personal and emotional wellbeing, physical health and much more through the medium of creativity and personal development. The programme operates from a custom built centre in Springtown, L’Derry where we work in house and within the local community to provide opportunities to our users.

SUMMER PROGRAMME

2023 seen our largest summer scheme yet, 146 applications, 132 children attending and 130 families supported. Demand continues to outstrip supply with the charity constantly adapting to meet the needs of our families and service users. The scheme results speak for themselves:

70% got on very well or better

21 volunteers to support the scheme

2640 hours of respite for parents and carers

SOCIAL PROGRAMMES

CARERS BUS TRIP

We offer two evenings a week of social programming including opportunities to travel on a bi annual basis. Our social programmes operate for 36 weeks of the year and support people with disabilties to take part in a variety of events and activities.

Every year the Charity offers a Christmas shopping trip to all carers and relatives of young people with disabilties. This is kindly supported by the Wester Health and Social Care Trust
