Drumcree Community Trust is a member organisation, with two representatives, of the Verve Network
which is a partnership of community organisalion8 and the Southern Health and Social Care Trust
oporaling across Brownlow, Lurgan and Portadown. Alon9 with Drumcree Community Trust, the other
member organisalions are Craigavon Inlercullural Programme, Drumellan Community Organisalion,
Edgarslown Residents Association, Shankhill (Lurganl Community Projects, Taghnevan Community
Development Association and Fitzone Foundation.
Each of the organisalions have established and developed themselves as Healthy Ltving Centres and
are part of the Healthy Living Centres A15iance which extends across several areas of the North.
Drumcree Community Trust has ￿ representatives on the North Wesl Portadown Neighbourhood
Renewal Partnership. They work alongside olher communily groups on the Partnership including
ch￿rchIll ParklGardens Tenants. Association. Woodside Residents Association, Obin5 DrivelAvenue
Associaliott and Edgarslown Community Association.
The Department for Communilies. the Education Aulhoiity, Southern Health and Social Care Trust,
HoLFsing Executive, Southern Regional College and Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon Council are also
repfesented on the Partnership.
The Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership aims to bring together the work of government departments
in partnership with local people lo tackle disadvantage and deprivation in all aspects of everyday life.
Each year, il has an annual budget lo bring fotward proposals and projects which malch that aim.
The Youth Support Worker and Health Worker repiesent DrumcTee Community Trust on the North
Wesl Portadown Network body, which manages two external community facilitiès, the Darby & Joan
Club and the mulli-use games area IMUGAI. As well as allending regular meetings, they are also
responsible for helping to organise the MUGA programme for children and adults.
Drumcree Community Tru51 is represented on the management committee of Blossom Sure Start, an
initiative lo support all Pfegnant women and families who have a preschool child or children 104
years1 and who live in the Portadown area. Sure Start is a government led initiative offering a range of
Se￿iceS to families with preschool children lo help them reach their full polenlial and is aimed al giving
every child the best possible start in life. Sure Start works in partnership with slatulory, voluntary and
community sectors and parents lo promote the physical, intellectual and social dovelopmenl of babies
and young children.

The main charitable objectives of Drumcree Community Trust are the advancement of citizenship or
community development-. the advancement of education., the advan￿ment of health or the saving of
lives. the prevention 01 relief of poverty and the relief of those in need by reason of youth. age,
ill-heallh, disability, firiancial hardship or other disadvantage.

During 2017. Drumcree Communlly Trust's staff and volunleers have éellvered a wldo range of
Programmes, activities and events lo our local communlly aimed al addrgsslng a varlety of needs
within the area.
Oncè 8galn, a large number chlldi8n. young people and adults directly benefilled from participallon In
the varlous activities, prograTnm8$, events and classes organlsed through Drumcree Community
Centre and Dr4Jmcree Houso of Heallh.The work undertaken by our staff team was assl$l8d and
slrenglhened by our volunteer base and we appreclalè lhe conlrlbulion whlch our volunteers continue
to make towards our work wlthin the Gommunlty.
The three Cenlre-based groups for chlldren aged from 2yTS and 10 months up lo the age of seven
yè8rs conllnued lo op?rale and during 2017, a number of loinl parents, & chlldren's events wer8
organised including.. cookery 8esslons. slay and play sessions. and family day trips. Lalg afternoons
and evenings were sel aslde for young people aged froTn the primary 3 age groups Fight through lo
secondary school-age and older. Again attendance at Ihes8 sesslons has ¢onllnued lo remain
constant with regular activities including arts and crafts,- mulli-games., cookery workshops- competitive
games. mov16 nights- anti-bullying programtnes- PTojecI and small group work.
Exlemal coaches war8 also engaged by the Trust lo dellver fitness and slamlna tests lo make young
more aware to the need lo engage in regular physlcal aclivilies. In addition. thanks lo the Youlh
Engagement Prograrnmes funded through NRISELBIEA. a number of intensive personal development
courses for 45 young people aged 11-19 y8ars old were organlsed. Elements of those programmes
Included a residential lo th& Share Cenlre. volunleering and mentoring opporttsnities- lead&rship and
personal development Iralnlng: health workshops; life skllls courses. mental health issues,. drugs &
alcohol awaren6ss sg$sion$; 10 week stress management programmts, mindlulness workshops,

evening sesslons. On avgrage, ovor 300 chlldrenlyoung peoplè of all age groups b8nefilled from th&88
acliviligs and thg programm8 was supported by 20 adult volunteers, 14 young volunteers and 8 junior

training, Disability awareness training, Safeguarding Irainlng. Inlergeneralional Project - this 6 week
project with Bubbles and Rosemounl care home involved our pre-school group going lo the home for
play sessions, nursery Thymes, dance and singing sessions wilh the residents, most of whom suffer
from dementia. The residents also came lo the centre for a celebratory event. Much of ovr work with
adults involved activities aimed al Pfoinoling beller and healthier lifestyles. Our main fundeF lor this
was SH&SCT which also funded our health related work with young people.
During 2017. we organised regular lilness classes, personal development programmes, stress
reduction classes. mental health workshop5, complementary therapy sessions, yoga classes, etc. All
these activities were delivered IhroughoEJl the year and meant that many local residents could lake
advantage of health promolionlheallh advisory services held in an environment where they feel
protected and in which they can feel a genuine part ol.
Chair yoga - average attendance 20+ lage range 41-93 years old). This ongoing activily included a
social element after each session where a light lunch was provided. People of all ages and abilities
allend and benefit from these sessions including those with severe mobility reslriclions, cancer
sU￿1VOrS, people with breathing diificullies, persons suffering from depression and social anxiety, and
those with long term illnesses and dementia.
SPUDS programme (Specific practical ultimate de-stregsl - Ihis was delivered over a three month
period and included gioup-based workshop5 ranging from relaxalion, laughter yoga, singing. dancing.
medilalion. and ¢rafts. Attendance va(ied between 18-32 women per session.
Our women's group. parents & toddlers group and our young parents, group also Continued lo meet
weekly. A second parents & toddlers group was also meeting each Fiiday. The weekly crochet class
on Wednesday evenings continues lo prove popular with a very good allendance. This is as much of a
social evening as well as a craft class lof women ol all ages and run by volunteers.
There were also three separate and very well-allended adult exercise classes in the community centre
each week- two on Tuesday evenings and the third on Friday evenings.
Through this comprehensive provision, Drumcree Community Trust contributes to the well-being and
personal development of many people ol all ages within our community.

Achievements and performance fcontinuedl
Economic Development
Drumcree Commuriity Trust is involved in local e¢onomic development and employment creation in
the community through fepresenlalion on the Board of Mayfair Business Cenlre. a social economy
enlerpiise. which houses a lolal of twenty five businesses, providing between them over 120 full and
part-lime jobs lo local people. Through the various businesses located al Mayfair, il is estimated that
well in excess of iwo million pounds is contributed annually into the economy of the local community
throu9h wages, lates, elc.
The impact ol this achievement by the local community lo create, develop and sustain this economic
development project is often undereslimaled and overlooked. By providing business development, job
creation and employment opportunities, Mayfair is making a positive contribution lo the live5 of the
families and households of Ihose employed by the various businesses on sile.

The Trustees have examined the charity's requirements lor reserves and consider the current level to
exceed the requirements lo continue operation throughout the 2018 financial year. The current level of
reserves available lo the charity is £381,575_ This provldes sUff￿rent funds to cover charitable
expendilure, support costs and governance costs.
