Trustees Report South Tyrone Men’s Shed Date: April 2024

Dear Members and Stakeholders,

I am pleased to present the Trustees Report for South Tyrone Men’s Shed for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2024. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the organization's financial health, activities, and our future plans, but first we wish to send our condolences to the family of one our most esteemed members, Sean Hamill, who passed away December 2023. He will be sadly missed by all. May his soul rest in peace.

Financial Overview:

Our financial position remains reasonably stable, with a total revenue of £12,452 expenditure of £10,414 and a deficit of £2,038. We have diligently managed our funds to ensure the sustainability of our operations and the continued support of our community initiatives.

Activities and Achievements:

Over the past year, South Tyrone Men's Shed has actively engaged in various projects and activities. Noteworthy achievements include making summer seats, donkey cart planters, bird feeding tables, swings refurbishment of cast iron summer seat to members of the public. We also supplied bird feeding tables and summer seats to local nursing homes, have created display pieces for local business and created a 12 ft conference table for the local Enterprise Centre. These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our members and volunteers.

Community Impact:

Our commitment to community service has had a positive impact on Dungannon and South Tyrone area. Through wood turning and carving workshops and collaborations with the Space and Mid-Ulster District Council (assisting with Halloween and Christmas events) we have strengthened community bonds and contributed to the well-being of individuals within our reach.

Challenges and Mitigations:

Despite our successes, we have faced challenges. We started to refurbish our existing premises to increase the size of our kitchen, create a dedicated area for the wood turning lathes and opened up the first floor to create an inviting space for various activities away from the workshop.

Future Plans:

Looking ahead, we are excited about upcoming projects, partnerships, and initiatives. Our focus will be on improvements to our premises (extending size of kitchen and making the upstairs area safe and useable). We remain committed to enriching the lives of our members and making a positive impact on the wider community.

Acknowledgments:

We extend our sincere gratitude to our members, volunteers, donors, and partners who have played a pivotal role in South Tyrone Men’s Shed's success. Your support has been invaluable, and we look forward to continued collaboration in the coming years.

In conclusion, South Tyrone Men’s Shed remains dedicated to its mission of promoting social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people, particularly but not exclusively men aged 30 or over, from becoming socially excluded by any charitable means by assisting them to integrate into society through the provision of facilities in which they may meet to undertake creative, physical or recreational activities, learn or pass on skills and knowledge and support each other socially. As we move forward, we are confident in our ability to adapt, grow, and make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.

Respectfully,

Brian MacAuley Chairperson, Board of Trustees South Tyrone Men’s Shed
