Report for 2022-2013
The 2022-2023 season of Templepatrick And District Historical Society
opened with a visit from Jack McKinney who entertained with extracts
from his re￿nt book-"Tales of a lifetime.. He even brought his own fan
club!
In October, a representative from Clifton House presented a talk on the
reality of "Life in the Poor House." This contrasted our comfortable
present day with the hardships of the past.
Frazier Agnew came in January. He told of his research for his book"The
Fallen of Newtownabbey 1914-1918."Again, a reminder of the horrors of
war and the work of volunteers to preserve and maintain memorial sites.
John Sheldon took part in Members, Night in February by relating the
story of Johnlsean Lester.
In March,Linda Houston brought the biography of Mccartney of
Lissanoure who travelled widely in Europe- even visiting Russia and
becoming an ambassador to China.
The final meeting of the season featured Guy Wamock who
presented"Operation Sandstone..
Thank you to Templepatrick Old Presbyterian church for allowing us to
use their facilities and a personal thank you to Committee members who
willingly helped when requested.
Also, thank you to the members for your attendance and positive
feedback.
Coming back from Covid has not been easy as people remain reluctant
to leave their homes.Hopefully,this will improve and l encourage you to
spread the word and also remember to bring your cup and a friend.
