The Markethill Festival Committee organises and oversees the running of the
programme of Cross Community events which provide a range of social and cultural
events during the festival. The committee hold planning and review meetings monthly
throughout the year. The festival events take pla￿ at various advertised dates from
June to De￿rnber.
Our vision is to increase participation by all inhabitsnts in the locality in community
activities, to encourage social interaction without fear of discrimination and to join with
those providing entertainment. It is also an opportunity for young people to gain some
social education that will be of benefit to the whole community. Our purpose is to
raise social awareness and funds for charitable causes as chosen by the committee.
Festival 2023
During January and February, the committee were busy planning these events for our
46th annual Festival.
Easter Bonny trail, Easter Wreath Making, Bar-b-que & Blues Musical event,
Coronation High Tea Morning, Indoor pairs Bowling Toumament, Car Treasure Hunt,
Colour run, it's a knockout competition, Gospel Music afternoon, Fancy dress Parade
followed by a children's disco. Senior citizens bus outing. A car boot sale and Big
Breakfast Morning. A Dance Nite with Music by Limavady Big Band, An Autumn flower
arrangement evening. A Christmas Door Wreath workshop, Senior Citizens Christmas
Lunch, Santas Grotto.
All took place apart from the Blues event which had to be cancelled due to very wet
weather.

Our objective is to promote good community relations for the benefit of Markethill and
further afield in Northern Ireland through the organisation of cross-community events,
promoting a neighbourly spirit and facilitating the constructive exchange of views
between all communities.
In pursuit of our objectives and planning our activities the Trustees consider the Charity
Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure our activities
will help to achieve the Charity's purposes and provide benefrt to the beneficiaries.
The Markethill Festival accounts closed the financial year with a balance of
£ 9769.00 credit
