EDUCATION

Future Strategic Education Strategy

As the number of children attending Mercy College continues to increase and put a strain on the school to accommodate them, Flax Trust continues to support the Education Task Group to develop a vision for education in North Belfast. The vision to build an ‘All Faith Education Village’ becomes more urgent at the start of each new academic year.

Education Minister Michelle McIlveen (DUP) made a statement to the Northern Ireland Assembly announcing 28 schools were to advance in planning under the Major Capital Works Program in March 2022. Mercy Collage in North Belfast was one of those listed. The schools will benefit from an estimated capital investment of £794m. This actions the 1[st] Stage of the Education Strategy.
