` ## CHARITY TRUSTEES REPORT FOR FINANCIAL YEAR 2019-2020 CHARITY: WHITEHEAD PRIMARY SCHOOL PTA 3 ISLANDMAGEE ROAD WHITEHEAD CO.ANTRIM BT38 9NE REG CHARITY NO. 103132 CHARITY TRUSTEES (for financial year 2019-20) 1 MRS ALISON O’BRIEN 2 MRS SHARON BEGGS 3 MRS FIONA TAYLOR ## FINANCIAL SUMMARY FOR 2019-20 YEAR END SAW PTA FINISH WITH £4472 NET PROFIT IN CURRENT YEAR THIS RESULTED FROM INCOME £5794 EXPENDITURE £1322 MONEY FUNDRAISED DURING THE YEAR WAS SPENT ON EQUIPMENT FOR SCHOOL AS DECIDED BASED ON CURRENT FOCUS AND REQUIREMENTS AS ADVISED BY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL (SEE FULL DETAIL IN ATTACHED ACCOUNTS FOR FINANCIAL YEAR) ## WHITEHEAD PRIMARY SCHOOL PTA PUBLIC BENEFIT REPORT ## FOR FINANCIAL YEAR 2019-20 IN SETTING OUR PURPOSES AND PLANNING OUR ACTIVITIES THE PTA HAS HAD REGARD TO THE CHARITY COMMISSION’S GUIDANCE ON PUBLIC BENEFIT. Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Whitehead Primary School. Charity trustees are also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Whitehead Primary School. Charity trustees are also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. ## ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN DURING FINANCIAL YEAR 2019-20 Whitehead Primary School PTA organises events to both raise funds for the school as well as to create a sociable atmosphere and provide an opportunity for the children to enrich their days at the school. PTA assisted on European Day of languages by arranging a ‘European – themed’ snack for break time in school. There was an evening Halloween disco for the children, well attended with the children dressing up in Halloween costumes. PTA provide music and lights as well as snacks at an affordable price. The Christmas event this year was Frosty Fest Day. This was a day of fun Christmas themed activities and entertainment in school which also saw a visit to school by Santa himself. All the children received a present arranged by PTA aka Santa’s elves! Spring term saw a zumba night held in school. Under the guidance of a parent who is also a first class Zumba instructor, this proved to be an invaluable fun exercise opportunity as well as a great fundraiser. On March 18[th] 2020, school life and life in general changed more than anyone could have imagined possible. With coronavirus came lockdown and obviously as a result, PTA activities were halted. Like in every other aspect of life affected by the global pandemic, this had such an impact on the school community and the PTA’s ability to contribute the fun and fundraising we are so used to. Our hope is for life to return to normality as soon as safely possible so that PTA can continue to support the school and its community Once again, PTA has been very appreciative of the support of all who help at and attend the events that did take place this year. We hope it will not be long before PTA is able to resume activities in the future. As result of fundraising efforts by PTA, £6000 was transferred to school which completed fundraising for the purchase of replacement classroom furniture. A total of £18000 was raised in recent years. No private benefit has resulted from activities undertaken in this financial year, other than that resulting for the trustees who are also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries.
