## **Finance** 

The accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and under the historical cost convention and in accordance with Charities Law. 

The deficit of income over expenditure for the year was -£2,260.20 

Overall, the income in 2022, with respect to Freewill Offerings and Donations was approximately £4,000 less than the previous year. However, with the lifting of Covid restrictions, there was a greater focus on fund raising with £3,500 raised from the Royal Exhibition, £400 for Salvation Army and over £770 from the Band Concert. In addition, the 2021 Board of Education payment was received in early 2022 and has also been included in this year’s figures. As a result, the overall income increased by £5,765.25 over the previous year. 

With respect to expenses, there was an increase in expenditure in 2022 of £2,160.79. While most expenses remained similar to the previous year, we did see a steep increase in the cost of Heating and Lighting costs, increasing by an additional £2,417 to £6,161 in 2022. There was also work carried out at the vicarage to replace a hedge and fence which cost £3,107. 

The £69,324 held in the Ulster Bank Trust Accounts cannot be used by the church as this would be a breach of the Trust conditions.

## **Management** . 

The Finances are managed by the Treasurer who reports back to the Trustees at Finance and Select Vestry Meetings on a regular basis (bi-monthly) or in-between if necessary. Trustees are elected each year at the Easter General Vestry. 

The Security and safeguarding of all monies is important to the Trustees and all monies are counted and banked under dual control. 

A Safeguarding Trust Panel is in place to ensure compliance with current legislation. Current Panel Members: Mrs Linda McGovern and Rev Derek Kerr. 

A monthly "working party' directed by the Glebe Wardens undertake the routine maintenance of the parish buildings and grounds. The parish estate is inspected every five years by an appropriate architect, who will produce a Quinquennial Inspection Report. This report provides a detailed snapshot of the condition of buildings and gives clear guidance to the Trustees in how to manage the properties and prioritise any essential work. 

## **Purpose** 

The principal function of the Parish is to support the advancement of the Christian religion by promoting through the work of the Parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, social and ecumenical. 

All the functions of the Parish relate to the advancement of religion through holding regular worship and communicating with and caring for parishioners of all ages, especially the sick and elderly and others in our community. 

## **Public Benefit** 

The Charity Trustees have complied with their duties in line with the Commission's Public Benefit statutory guidance. 

Regular worship and reaching out into the community as well as other activities both social and fundraising have been carried out through the year to fulfil our statement of Public Benefit. 

The Parish has collected donations for food bank that have been passed on to Mr William Logan to help with disadvantaged families in the areas that he works. 

Monies were also raised for the Bishops' Appeal SAMS and MECO for the disadvantaged worldwide. 

Throughout the year various activities and services are shared with the other churches in the Randalstown district. 

The church halls are regularly used by the badminton and bowling clubs, and on occasion other community organisations in the locality who request appropriate facilities.
