Band Purpose
The band shall encourage its members to demonstrate a commitment to artistic excellence
and the education of young musicians.

A meeting of the Trustees and Members of Aghavilly Accordion Band was held on
Wednesday 21 June 2023. The Chaimian welcomed everyone to the meeting &nd thank
them for attending. The audited accounts ofthe band were presented and discussed.
Members were pleased that the band was in a sound financial position.
Expenditure during the year 2022-2023 was principally associated with instrument repairs,
uniform upgrades, purchase of some small second-hand accordions for learners and tuition
expenses. Members are indebted to Mr Graeme Parr for verifying the accounts and the
Se¢￿tary agreed to personally thank him.
The Chainnan was pleased to state that Band Practices are now taking part on a regular basis,
and he requested a good attendance at all practices.
The Chaimlan was delighted to report that Mrs Oliv¢ Scott is proving to be an excellent tutor
and she enjoys a 8ood working relationship with Band Members.
The Chairn]an was pleased that a learner's class had started in November 2022, and seven
leamers are presently learning the accordion. Most have no previous musical knowledge and
it will be a long-terni project.

The Band held a very successful concert with support from the Ulster Scots Agency on 31,
March 2023. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the progrdmme played by the Band and other
Artists. Band Funds were boosted as a result of voluntary donations.
As well as the usual Cultural engagements, the Band was privileged to play at A Musical
Tattoo on i oth July 2022 at the City of Arniagh RugbylFootball Club, finishing off the night
by joining up in a massed Band of Silver, Pipe and Flute.
The Band also led the praise for the religious servic¢ at the 12 July demonstration in
Armagh, as well as the act of Remembrance before the main parade. It was also a pleasure
for the Band to play at a fonner member's 95 Birthday party,
The Secretaryrrreasurer reported that the Band's banking arrangements with the Orchard
Credit Union Ltd, The Old Savings Bank, I Victoria Street, Arniagh are continuing to work
well.
Members were satisfied with how the present oifice Bearers fulfilled their duties and as they
are willing to remain in O￿lCe the meeting was brought to a closc with the Chairman
thanking everyone for contributing to the Band's success.
