## **Grey Abbey PTA - Activities and Achievements 2022 – 2023**

Grey Abbey PTA has completed another successful year supporting the school to raise essential funds for the benefit of all our children.

PTA fund raising efforts started late in 2022 as it had not met since before covid. The goal for the year was to raise £2,000 to help with the purchase of interactive boards for each of the classrooms.

We began with children being provided with Smarties tubes. Once they had enjoyed the Smarties children were encouraged to fill the tube with change and return it to school. This has raised a total of £348.87 so far!

Two charity boxes collected from Angus Butchers and Lekker raised £79.98.

We held an Easter raffle with the contents of the beautiful basket kindly donated to the PTA, wine donated by Mr & Mrs Montgomery and sweets donated by the PTA. This raised a total of £241.00 for funds.

We held a party in school to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles using a £500 received from ards and North Down Borough Council. This was a free event which the Monday Club were also invited to attend. The highlight of the event was a visit by an ice cream van so all pupils and staff could be provided with an ice cream after a lot of dancing in the school disco.

May saw a relay team complete the Belfast marathon. The team raised a total of £1,454 which is absolutely fabulous and helped massively towards our funding raising goal for the school.

Magellan very kindly donated £500.00 to the PTA which help greatly towards reaching the overall goal and we are very grateful for their support to the school.

This year saw another sunny sports day hosted by Mr and Mrs Montgomery who once again very kindly helped with the refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits for everyone and the PTA selling tuck bags for the children. This raised £110.20.

We welcome the addition of new members to the PTA and their enthusiasm to help out at events for the benefit of all involved with the school. Every little helps!

Mr Derrick, all the teachers and classroom assistants have offered great support to the Committee at PTA meetings and at all the events held throughout the year and we are thankful for all the help and support they give going above and beyond to help out.

We thank all the parents, grandparents and carers for their continued support throughout the year as we know times are difficult for many families.

We look forward to a successful 2023/2024 school year and to thinking of new and innovative ways of raising funds to support the school budget during these particularly difficult financial times.
