Summary
2022/23 started very much along the same vein as 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22 with fund raising severely restricted due to the current cost of living crisis and ongoing impact of COVID 19 both in the School, and in the general population. We did receive funds into the account from the repayment of Gift Aid monies from HMRC for the 2 previous years of £855.38 and £944.91 respectively.
Our first in person events were the Halloween discos and the Christmas fair which together raised £1932.37. We also received a generous donation of £1000 from a parent’s business as they understand the difficulties faced by the school over recent years to raise vital funding. We also held a successful Xmas ballot and completed Santa visits to pupils homes in the month of December.
Our spending was restricted to the usual weekly Spanish classes for all pupils plus activites associated with the Christmas fair – e.g. photography.
In January we were able to hold the first PTA wine and Cheese night since Covid and raised £1218.72.
In February 2023 we then agreed to the necessary funding to provide both indoor and outdoor equipment to the school, as part of a wider improvement scheme due to wear and tear of equipment which had reached the end of its lifespan. This was essential as the EA does not provide the funding required to maintain standards.
We held an Easter Egg hunt for the pupils in the Spring and in May we also held a celebration day for the King’s Coronation. This included parent helpers to support the staff in providing a celebration day at school with activities for each year group.
A Summer fair was held prior to school closing at the end of June 2023 and the funds raised from this were banked in the 2023/2024 financial year. This was more about bringing the families together and offering a relaxed environment for parents, pupils, staff and the local community to come together and it was a well attended and successful event.
Below is the financial summary for the year.

Our thanks to all parents, staff and friends who support the PTA efforts year on year and make the above possible.
Money Raised
Between September 2022 and August 2023, Moneyrea Primary PTA raised £7,642.38. This was made up of the school fund, fundraising events and donations.
PTA formally met during the year but numbers of attendees are well down on the precovid meetings. New office bearers from lower down the school have come on board and It great to see enthusiastic new faces in PTA. The money raised by PTA directly benefits all of the children in the school and it is becoming increasingly more important in a situation of rising costs and a freeze on public pending that PTA fundraise to help provide fundamentals for the school.
