Public Benefit statement
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school
The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community.
This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support.
This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Moneyrea Primary School.
Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.
Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school
The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community.
This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding.
WE ARE AN ACTIVE PTA MADE UP OF A GROUP OF ELECTED PARENTS AND STAFF. WE ORGANISE SOCIAL FUNDRAISING EVENTS FOR THE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN OF THE SCHOOL. WE REGULARLY PROVIDE AND ORGANISE VOLUNTEER SUPPORT TO THE SCHOOL, SUCH AS: HELPING AT SCHOOLS SPORTS DAY, BOOK FAIR, DISCOS, LEAVERS’ ASSEMBLY, SCHOOL SHOW, FAMILY FUN DAY, SCHOOL BBQ, CHRISTMAS SALE AND CAROL SERVICE. WE PROVIDE AN ARENA FOR STAFF AND PARENTS TO WORK TOGETHER IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE SCHOOL.
WE HELP WITH ANY OTHER EVENTS OR MATTERS TO WHICH WE CAN SUPPORT THE SCHOOL AND THE FAMILIES OF THE PUPILS WITHIN THE SCHOOL.
ALL OUR EVENTS RAISE FUNDS BUT ARE OPEN TO ALL VISITORS REGARDLESS OF DONATIONS RECIEVED. WE ORGANISE REGULAR COMPETITIONS FOR THE CHILDREN THOUGHOUT THE YEAR.
WE WORK IN CLOSE CONSULTATION WITH THE PRINCIPAL AND TEACHERS TO AGREE TO RAISE MONEY TO FUND A RANGE OF ITEMS AND SERVICES THAT DIRECTLY BENEFIT THE SCHOOL AND THE CHILDREN. IN RECENT YEARS WE HAVE BOUGHT SOUND AND LIGHTING EQUIPMENT FOR SCHOOL PRODUCTIONS, PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND IPADS FOR INCLASS USE.
OVERALL WE ARE A FUNDRAISING ORGANISATION, BUT AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR ROLE IS PROMOTING SOCIAL INCLUSION, COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND PROVIDING A LESS FORMAL COMMUNICATION CHANNEL BETWEEN THE PARENT BODY AND THE SCHOOL
Purpose
The purpose of the Association (the Purposes) is to advance the education of pupils in the school in particular by: Developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school; Engaging in activities or providing facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
Summary
2021/22 started very much along the same vein as 2019/20 and 2020/21 with fund raising severely restricted due to the ongoing impact of COVID 19 both in the School and in the general population. Restrictions and reluctance to have unnecessary public gatherings meant that fund raising activity was largely restricted to donations from the school family, ballots and the selling of Christmas baubles however, by the end of the year we were able to provide refreshments for the school sports day which raised over £300.
As activities in school began to normalise we were able to once again provide PTA funds to the support activities such as the celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as well as continuing to support the provision of Spanish lessons for the school once a week.
Below is the financial summary for the year.

Our thanks to all parents, staff and friends who support the PTA efforts year on year and make the above possible.
Money Raised
Between September 2021 and August 2022, Moneyrea Primary PTA raised £6,011.75. This was made up of the school fund, fundraising events and donations.
The school fund raised £3,348.35. This was increase of over £1100 from last year. School fund is a voluntary contribution to PTA and we very much appreciate the continued support from parents, particularly given the impact covid restrictions had on many families incomes. Gift Aid for this and last year is still to be claimed. The claim has been submitted and will boost the total.
Once again, PTA did not formally meet during the year and it is very likely some families who joined the school during the last 2 years are not fully aware of the work that we do and the need for fund raising to support school activities. 2022/23 has already seen the restoration of face-to-face meetings and a strong interest in PTA. It great to see enthusiastic new faces in PTA and this enthusiasm will no doubt turn into new ideas for PTA to become involved in. The money raised by PTA directly benefits all of the children in the school and it is becoming increasingly more important in a situation of rising costs and a freeze on public pending that PTA fundraise to help provide fundamentals for the school.
Our fundraising events were restricted to the Christmas ballot which raised an admirable £2108. The sale of Christmas Baubles which raise £163 and the sales of refreshments at sports day which raised £336.
