TRUSTEES. ANNUAL REPORT
for the financial year ended 31 March 2023
The trustees present their Trustees. Annual Report, combining the Directors, Report and Trustees, Report. and the
unaudited financial statements for the financial year ended 31 March 2023.
The financial statements are prepared in accordan￿ with Ihe Companies Act 2006, FRS 102 "The Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charilies preparing their financial statements in accordance with
the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 1021.
The Trustees, Report contains the information required to be provided in Ihe Trustees, Annual Report under the
Statement of Recommended Practice {SORP) guidelines. The trustees of the company are also charity trustees for
the purpose of charity law and under the company's constitution are known as members of the board of trustees.
In this report the trustees of Shankill (Lurgan) Comrnunity Projeds present a summary of its purpose, govemance,
activities, achievements and finan￿$ for the financial financial year 31 March 2023.
The company is a registered charity and hen￿ the report and results are presented in a fomi which complies with
the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 an(J, although not obliged to comply with the Statement of
Recommended Practice applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland FRS 102, the organisation has implemented rts
recommendations where relevant in these financial statements.
Financial Review
Reserves Policy
The trustees have confimed £25,000 as the level of free reserves that the charity aims to have on an ongoing basis
an¢J are working towards this target through a series of measures introduced in the current financial year and with
plans already underway for the next financial year. The trustees believe this level of free reserves is essential to
enable the charity to provide its activities for the foreseeable fijture. This reserve policy is an integral part of the
charity's planning, budget and forecasts.
Financial Results
At the end of the financial year the company has assets of £926.780 (2022 £987,596) and liabilities of £80.417
(2022 - £191,122). The net assets of the company have increased by £49.889.

Our Achievement and Accomplishments
Preparing an annual report provides a time for reflection, an opportunity to look back over the previous year revisiting
areas of success and reconsidering areas of challenge. It also helps us to look to the future and consider what it is we
need to do to keep moving forward. There is quotation that says "Moving on is a process, moving fonvard is a choice.
There's a slight difference bet￿een the - moving on is letting things happen, moving forward is making things
happen..

In the year end March 2023 SLCP continued through another difficult year especially with the rising costs of Gas and
Electricity along with price increases for materials etc.
Organisations within Mt. Zion House also have struggled with increases but still remain and are committed to serving
the community.
SLCP are delighted that our partner Action Cancer have continued to bring its therapeulic support services to Mt Zion
House and in supporting this much needed setvice in our area we continue to offer them the use of2 rooms at no cost
as a thank you for their work.
Complementary therapy can help reduce anxiety and stress, improve sleep pattems and aid
relaxation. It can also teach coping skills to help deal with what's happening. Any adult or child who has had a cancer
diagnosis themselves or has been affected through a close
relative's diagnosis can avail of this free service.
Counselling continues to be a vital service especially after the Covid pandemic and with the continuing cost of living
crisis and the effect it is having on the community. With our qualified counsellors they can offer their clients a safe and
onfidenlial service within Mt. Zion House either face to face or via zoom.
One of our anchor tenants continue to offer an advice service along with tribunals to all those who are struggling with
the cost of living crisis, debt, benefits etc. and are fijlly booked on a daily basis.
Community workshops continued throughout the year along with Mental Health support groups as demand continues
within our community.
S.L.C.P were able to provide a green space and partner with Praxis Care a tenant.
With the help and dedicalion of their clients all suffering with Mental Health issues a community garden was developed.
We hope throughout the year ahead to be able to further develop the remaining green spa￿. enabling us to offer this
facility as a safe pla￿ for our community to enjoy.
We have sought funding to replace windows. enhance our green space and maintain our building ensuring it is fit for
purpose for years to come.
As Mount Zion House is a Communty Hub, we continue to provide office and workshop Spa￿ to the
voluntarylcommunity sectorland small enterprises. We look forward to welcoming two new tenants in June 2023.
We still have no doubt that we will face challenges in the next year, but we will rise to whatever is ahead so that we
remain a community hub to support both our tenants and the community.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES. RESPONSIBILITIES
for the financial year ended 31 March 2023
The trustees, who are also directors of Shankill (Lurgan) Community Projects for the purposes of company law, are
responsible for preparing the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
Company law requires the trustees as the directors to P￿pare financial statements for each financial year. Under
that law the Iruslees have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance wilh United Kingdom Generally
Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law) including FRS 102 'The
Financial Reporting Standard appliG4ble in the UK and Republic of Ireland" Section 1A (Small Enlilies). Under
company law the trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are salisfied that they give a true
and fair view of Ihe state of affairs of the company and of the surplus or deficit of the company for that period.
In preparing these financial statements. the trustees are required lo:
select suitable accounling policies and apply them consistently-
make judgements and estimates Ihat are reasonable and prudent.,
state whether Ihe financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the relevant financial reporting
framework, identify those standards. and note the effect and the reasons for any material departure from those
standards- and
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the
company will continue in operation.
The trustees confirm Ihat they have complied with the above requirements in preparing the financial statements.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the
company's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and
enable them to ensure that the financial slalements comply with. They are also responsible for safeguarding the
assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other

TRUSTEES OF SHANKILL (LURGAN) COMMUNITY PROJECTS
We have examined the financial statements of the company for the financial year ended 31 March 2023, which
comprise the Statement of Financial Aclivities (incorporating an Income and Expenditure Account), the Balan
Sheet and the related notes.
This report is made solely to the company's members, as a body, in accordan￿ with Chapter 3 of Part 16 of the
Companies Act 2006. Our work has been undertaken so that we might compile the financial statements that we
have been engaged to compile, report to the Board of Trustees that we have done so. and state those matters that
we have agreed to state to them in this report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do
not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the company and the company's members, as a body. for
our work, or for this report.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The company's trustees (who are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law) are
responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordan￿ with the requirements of the Companies
Act 2006. The company's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this financial year under Chapter 3 of
Part 16 of the Companies Act 2006 and that an independent examinalion is required.
It is our responsibility to..
examine the financial statements under section 65 of the Charities Act.,
follow the procedures laid down by the general Direclions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland
under section 65{9)(b) of the Charities Act,. and
state whether particular matters have come to our attention.
Basis of independent examinerfs report
We have examined your company financial statements as required under section 65 of the Charities Act and our
examinalion was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for
Northern Ireland under section 65{9){b) of the Charities Act. An examination includes a review of the accounting
records kept by the company and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records. It also
includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements and seeking explanations
from the trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an audit and consequenlly no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and
fair. view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention which gives us cause to believe that in, any
material respect:
accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006
the financial statements do not accord with those accounting records
the financial statements have not been prepared in accordance with the accounting requirements of section 396
of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and prtnciples of the Statement of Recommended Practice
applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance wilh the Financial Reporting Slandard applicable in
the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS102)

GENERAL INFORMATION
Shankill (Lurgan) Community Projeds is a company limited by guarantee incorporated in Northem Ireland.
The registered office of the company is Mount Zion House, Edward Street, Lurgan, Craigavon. Co. Armagh,
BT66 6DB, Northern Ireland which is also the principal place of business of the company. The financial
statements have been presented in Pound Slerling {£) which is also the functional currency of the company.
SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES
The following accounting policies have been applied consistently in dealing with items which are considered
material in relation to the charity's financial statements.
Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis under the histori￿1 cost
convention, modified to indude ￿rtain items at fair value. The financial statements have been prepared in
accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Slandard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland FRS 102" applying Section 1A of Ihal Slandard.
As permitted by the Companies Act 2006, the company has varied the standard fonnats in that act for the
statement of Financial Activities and the Balance Sheet. Departures from the standard formats are lo comply
with the requirements of Ihe Charities SORP and are in compliance with section 4.7, 10.6 and 15.2 of that
SORP.

The financial statements of the company for the financial year ended 31 December 2017 have been prepared
on the going concem basis and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended practi￿ {SORP)
"Accounting and Reporting by Charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting
Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland FRS 102" applying Section 1 A of that Standard.
Incoming Resources
Income is recognised by inclusion in the Statement of Financial Activities only when the company is legally
entitled to the income, performance conditions attached to the ilem{s) of income have been met, the amounts
involved can be measured with sufficient reliability and il is probable that the income will be received by the
company.
Resources Expended
Expenditure is analysed between costs of charitable activities and raising funds. The costs of each activity
are separately accumulaled and disclosed, and analysed according to their major components. Expenditure
is ￿Cognised when a legal or constructive obligation exists as a result of a past event. a transfer of economic
benefits is required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be reliably measured. Support costs
are those functions that assist the work of the company but cannot be attribuled to one activity. Such costs
are allocated lo activities in proportion to staff time spent or other suitable measure for each acttvity.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost or at valuation, less accumulated depreciation. The charge to
depreciation is calculated to write off the original cost or valuation of tangible fixed assets, less their
estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives as follows:

Debtors
Debtors are recognised at the settlement amount due after any discount offered. Prepayments are valued at
the amount prepaid net of any trade discounts due. Income recognised by the company from government
agencies and other co-funders, but not yet received at financial year end, is included in debtors.
Cash at bank and in hand
Cash at bank and in hand comprises ￿$h on deposit at banks requiring less than three months notice of
withdrawal.

The liability of the members is limited.
Every member of the company undertakes to contribute to the assets of the company in the event of its being
wound up while they are members, or within one financial year thereafier, for the payment of Ihe debts and
liabilities of the company contracted before they ceased to be members. and the costs, charges and
expenses of winding up, and for the adjustment of the rights of the contributors among themselves, such
